This is no doubt a sly attempt by Wigan Warriors to once again cheat the salary cap. It is a disgrace that Sam is getting paid by a third party to stay at that horrendous club. A club that continues to drag the game into the gutter with there total disregard to the honest rules put in place to ensure a fairer sport.

Anymore misgivings like this by Wigan and they’ll goosestep rugby league into oblivion sooner rather than later.

Wigan would have offered the RFL a lot more than what Stobart had offered to call our top flight ‘Sam Tomkin’s Super League’ if it meant keeping him in the game. Sam Tomkins getting all the money is capitalism at it’s very worst. He’s a rugby player for Christ sake and he gets paid very well to do what he does for eighty minutes every weekend. But that’s not enough for poor Sam. Oh no.

I wish him all the best in his job as a pundit. But is it really morally right to take it on when so many people (unemployed ex-players, recently graduated university students etc) could have benefited from it more?

This could be an interesting season for Sam Tompkins .as the highest paid
Player at wigan he will be under pressure from his teammates to produce
The goods,also I think if things don't work out well he may regret not
Taking up the lucrative union offers.
If I was a wigan supporter I would be worried every time he pops on
Television watching high profile union games. Also if his brother makes the
Grade and makes the England union team this would be a big temptation

Well I certainly wouldn't call it an outrage.

Just been watching the sky coverage on the way to the match - now I've got no problems with Tomkins working on sky as a pundit, but the way they have just been talking about him being part of the Sky team was frankly embarrassing. It was ass kissing of the highest order, completely cringeworthy and uncomfortable to watch. I don't know who they were trying to convince about the appointment of ST as a Sky pundit/poster boy, but it was horrid watching.

He may well be good to watch, just thought the hype an drooling from Eddie in particular was way OTT. It was embarrassing, and any new viewer to RL will have been wondering what on earth it was all about. It was like watching a 12 year old girl being told their favourite boyband were coming around for tea...

It's probably because it's suggested it's part of a deal to keep him at Wigan. Which seems unfair to all other clubs as does the RFL buying odslum. Lots of people have commented on that. So it's not just people moaning about Tomkin/Wigan as you are suggesting. Frankly I couldn't care if he stays or goes. NRL or union, SL is bigger than one player and the Wigan club.

I recon nobody cares about the job but why it's been done and why other teams wernt helped to keep key players.
