Rovers have been playing play off/knock out rugby for 4 weeks against teams without similar motivation (Cas aside) and this was always going to catch up with them IMO.

The first couple of play off games have been pretty poor so far and not a good advert for Super League maybe the top 8 concept is flawed?

4th spot knowing they had a second chance maybe?

Think they were totally outclassed but hardly put the SL play offs in a good light.

I don't disagree, six team system is about right. Don't think we'll see similar tomorrow, mind. Which will then 'make up for it' in the RFL's eyes.

Without promotion and relegation it is necessary in a 14 team league though, IMO. There have been a lot of blow-outs all season, games in which the momentum never switches. Wire have scored 50+ a ridiculous number of times this year. Hudds came [u4th[/u, remember! We got done 44-8 by Leeds, having come 4th in 2009. There isn't great depth of competition. I might be coming round to returning to 12 teams - I shan't even pretend that its greater attractiveness has nothing to do with Rovers getting a b grade licence.

What a desperate end to a desperate season got what we deserved nothing,a season to forget.
Its not as though we have the bragging rights against hull after all we only finished one place above them and only beat them 2 out of 3. Very poor by our standards.!

The NRL doesn't have this problem with their 8 team system. Maybe it's the way we work it?

I think it just highlights the gulf between the NRL and SL. Once the NRL play offs start the intensity rises and any team can beat anybody else. Over here without putting teams down we know that 2 of Wigan, Wire or Saints will be at Old Trafford and the rest just make up the numbers.

I agree with Mild Rover about a 14 team competition needing a top 8 play off to keep the regular season interesting but hand on heart we know that the bottom 4 teams are playing for nothing more then a win or maybe 2 in the play offs to bow out with a bit of pride.

The quality of our league is abysmal in comparison.

Not the point though is it? It's the relative difference in quality between 1st and 8th. It isn't that much here compared to the NRL.

I think it's a massive difference. It's only Wigan or Warrington and apart from maybe Saints those top 2 would probably stick 40+ on the other teams in the top 8 don't you think?

You're missing the point, there's far better quality in the NRL, agreed. But both Melbourne (1st) and Manly (2nd) both eased into their Grand Final eliminators, and I can't see past a Storm/Sea Eagles Final.

Yes agree..It would of been intresting to of seen the outcome if Cats had of played Wire or Wigan on that form.I love the way Catalan play,the support play was superb.

You didn't watch the Manly game then. It was far from easy! They were down 8-0 at half time and there was 4 points in it with 15mins to go. A very exciting game. Changed when Patterson went off with a neck injury on a stretcher and then manly got a fluke bounce back off a post from a kick. They did run a load of points in in the last 10mins when the Cowboy's head went down.

I was also surprised that the Broncos beat the Warriors and they look to be a favourite with the bookies as do the Tigers with Melbourne so the commentators were saying. I expect the Warriors to come back and win their next game and to run one of the top sides close.

When Wigan Warrington play I'm normally off doing something else after 10mins when they pass the 20 point mark.

Playoffs have been a huge disappointment so far.

Wigan are there for the taking today if Saints can take their chances.
