| Quote ="number 6"really? saints pack was still quality, throw in roby who kept us on the back foot most of the second half, it was the perfect platform for wilkin and eastmond, foster, armstrong have played games regular for saints! only ashe i can think of is who hasn't played for the saints 1st team before'"
Armstrong played a couple of games last season. This season he's been on dual reg with Leigh and only got brought back last week due to our injuries.
Eastmond, well let's not talk about that, we all know what happens. Suffice to say, when he has played for us, our own fans boo him.
Foster, yes. He's very good, not denying that ( if only I was 20 years younger <sigh>icon_wink.gif.
Wilkin. Also very good but in his own post match interview 'never a 6'
I never meant any intent when I said we had a lot of kids out. I said our forwards and second row were first teamers/internationals, call them what you will.
But I still say our kids came very good, especially Ashe, who was only given a shirt number two days ago.
Thought some decisions either way were dodgy, but half the refs are aligned with one team or another so don't think that can be an excuse either.
If Hull had Longy uninjured think it might have been different! You would almost definitely have had a drop goal!
Oh and PS: Wire Wonder is a very very bad troll who apparently spends all his/her spare time trying to think up inflammatory comments to rouse everyone. Fun to answer back but pointless

It wasn't a poor team, but it was well short of their best team.

| Letting a Saints fan ref Saints, and any hometown referee officiate in a game involving their hometown is a farce. It is one of the many stupid decisions made by the RFL which makes our sport a laughing stock and keeps us as a minority sport.

Saints got penalised for forward passes, some of which weren't; the Eastmond one was. Hull scored off the last one. On that basis we were robbed.
Either way, I'm very pleased that a team consisting of first team forwards and second rowers (one playing as SO) accompanied by a team of U20s managed a draw. At full strength we should take some beating....'"
hmm sounds like you think I'm trying to use the fact Ganson is a known St Helens fan as a reason.
Wrong I just question the fact any ref who is a supporter or has any ties is allowed too ref teams they have some connection too, the fact the RFL has not done what many other sports have done and made it a rule that refs cannot ref games they have ties with is another reason they are an joke.
what I'm saying has nothing to do with what happened today as personally think Ganson is a joke anyway he always finds someway too make himself the of attention whenever he appears on live tv games.

Agree with this - the thing is that Ganson, Silverwood and Bentham are commonly associated with teams and are also the more prominent refs therefore end up with their 'home' teams frequently for televised ties. We need more refs and ones that are better......

Or turned around the other way we were regularly told by many on here, possibly even yourself, that injuries cannot be used as an excuse.

So a couple of decisions in the 2nd half means he was biased??? Lets just forget some of the forward passes he gave in the first that looked fine? No wonder we have a reputation for blaming refs when it is actually true we blame a ref when we should never have been in the position for the ref to influence the game.

exactly, because at the end of the day he is always going to be accused of bias if the game goes like it did today.
can you imagine if me or you or any of our fans became a ref and progressed to that level. could you give decisions against hull, because at the end of the day being a fan is in your blood.
there's plenty of refs to go round, the rfl needs to end the practice of home town refs doing their teams games now

Spot on.
There's no way any ref should ref his hometown team. It would never happen in Union or Football.
Who are these faceless people who decided this can happen?

| Steve Ganson is not a self confessed saints fan. It is known he is a wigan supporter and doesn't like Saints, his ex wife is a saints though. The decision was correct, Washbrook was not looking at the ball, he was looking at the man jumping. If he had turn his head to see the ball coming, he would have been deemed jumping for it, but, he never once looked at the direction of the ball. Correct decision.

I'm just glad you weren't reffing we'd have lost by 50.
Ganson called it as he saw it at the end - he got it wrong IMO but there you go. Great game between two good sides especially with it being the third in a short space of time. We are scoring some outstanding tries this season and we need to maintain and improve our intensity into the second half of the season to improve on last year's finishing position.

Yes, but only on the full. As it bounced, it was a live ball and Whiting took it into touch by standing on the line when gathering, so Saints H&F was correct.
O'Meley? was moaning about Ganson being in his way too, but he was out the scrum far too quick for a prop, so can't really say owt.

| i think the washbrook decision was wrong, never took his eye off the ball. shame for hull, but they couldn't get any decent possession in the second half.all credit to saints to come from 18 down.its been mentioned about long and phelps missing, but i think radford will improve the side when back. think hull when they do learn to catch the ball and not let it bounce need to return the ball at pace, kick returns seem to be very slow.
all in all disapointed that hull didn't get the 2 points today, think ganson was wrong to award the penalty at the end. but 5 points from 6 over the easter period is a great return considering who we have played.
