| Well, I go away for a few hours and it's all change!!
Obviously, none of us know the full details behind Abdull's departure, but I think we may have dodged a bullet here. Unfortunately the situation with him was beginning to ominously look like Truman part II.
The club's actions here do come across as a touch ruthless, but the new regime clearly feel they need to implement the 'new culture' from the off.
The concern I would have here is that we need to be careful not to gain a reputation for being too ruthless, ironically. Abdull's swift exit, not long after Walker's equally swift demise, may lead to potential targets seeking contracts which are heavily slanted in their favour before committing to us. Elite sport is a cut throat business, but it is something to bear in mind as the new regime progresses.

| [quote="homme vaste":kpd1csk0]Surely the Brutal decision making, in this case (without knowing all of the ins and outs) being get an injury and we will just get rid of you, might have an effect on your reputation as a club when players are looking at where to sign? If I was a player, it would certainly put me off.[/quote:kpd1csk0]
Really!!!!! If I were signing I think it would point to a club who means business. Do you really think that it would have put Asiata off signing had he know about this before hand? if It would only put me off as a player if I was signing for the club and in the process trying to pull the wool over the clubs eyes. There is more to this than simply getting rid of a player because he is injured, perhaps more than we appreciated when we signed him.
As a club the parameters by which you are judged behaviour, dedication and attitude wise have changed immensely. The truth may or may not come out but it certainly won't come from the club. In fact as yet nothing has come out from the club at all so we await an announcement.

| As for the Sneyd situation, I'm really not sure. They always say 'never go back' and that might be the case here.
I guess it would depend on what type of deal was thrashed out between player and club, but I can't imagine Sneyd would sign for only twelve months and on the cheap, and we certainly don't want to be investing too heavily in a player in his mid-thirties. I'm not sure there would be enough common ground to make this work satisfactorily for both sides.
Plus a half back combination of Sezer & Sneyd doesn't look ideal, possibly too similar in style to be effective, especially given we're hardly blessed with pace across the back division. Although I'm not sure what our ideal line-up would be, given the current squad personnel. These are the kinds of decisions that Myler/Cartwright have to get right if we are to progress forward over the next 12/24 months.
I would also hate for Sneyd to come back, in all the wrong circumstances, and bomb out. The guy played such a massive part in arguably the two greatest afternoon's in the club's entire history, that I would hate to see that tarnished in any way. Let's not forget that when he left us there was a general feeling that the time was right to part ways. I'm not sure what we could offer him at this stage in his career, apart from one last healthy pay day, which might not necessarily suit our purposes.
I'll be surprised if this one comes off, but RL is such an incestuous sport you never know.

| Officials from the Rugby Football League will return to Salford Red Devils this week to outline what the possible options for the club are moving forward: including the potential for cuts to their 2025 squad.

Matt Shaw putting a piece out too on it. They've asked for an advance on the central funding but are taking the squad on a warm weather camp. Kinda admire the front of it

Sneyd was below par in 2021 (along with most of the team) and it feels like a lifetime ago now but the team had gone from 80mins from the Grand Final to 8th which felt shocking at the time (oh if only we knew that wasn't rock bottom )
so yes I was in the mood for changes at the time and on paper former man of steel Gale fitted the bill...Hodgson also thought Connor could be the man to lead us around...
What is noticeable though is how much fitter Sneyd looks at Salford, it's been well documented how poor and fitness has been the last few years. I agree with others that ideally he needs a runner with him though, he and Albert were an ideal combo.

Bit of a surprise but if this is the consensus of the squad then that's good enough for me.

| Sezer should be on the pitch for the full 80, wonder if that had any reasoning.
Thought Asiata was nailed on for it

Cartwright has coached Sezer before all the way back to I think 2012 so it could just be a case of he trusts him

Non fed is overseas isn't it and £150k on the cap, fed trained £100k and academy product £50k, or at least that is what it was unless it's changed again

| Some sad reports out that Salford's plight is worsening. Don't think their imminent warm weather training departure will Garner sympathy with fellow clubs.
It all adds up. We wouldn't have released Abdull without an immediate turnaround.
Feel it for Salford.

The warm weather training is a joke, you're looking at what at least £1k a head for a week and with all the coaches, physios and media staff that could easily be £40k
Also its season ticket and new shirt sale time so surely a peak of income for them given they are keen to tell us they make little to nothing on gameplay (due to renting the ground)
What exactly did IMG review on their finances?

The Salford scenario can't be anything but a massive embarrassment to IMG. It wholeheartedly undermines the integrity of their creation.
Salford received their 500k advance against the wishes of most clubs, some of whom not taking a foreign pre-season for financial reasons, only worsens their standing.
They have a garden sale at the minute with their higher earners, yet plunder money into "warm weather"
Apparently we are usurping Leigh's bid considerably and have made attempts at MacDonald. Alas, the latter, is on "medium" money and not an advisable release unless the fee is notable, so the emphasis is releasing higher earners.
Please do not take above as me being connected. This is only from someone who used to post on here and is currently correcting one of my dumps after the latest tramp vacated
Doing a fine job, too.

MacDonald is surely a non starter as we don't have a quota spot available. We wouldn't even make an enquiry unless for 2026.

| Busy day of news in RL today. Ken Davy proposing he buys The Shay, renovates it for use by Huddersfield, Halifax RL and Football and then in the future moves back to a new ground in Hudds.
But you do wonder if ultimately Halifax and Hudds would just merge and stay there...
The Shay with a few new TVs and sponsor hordings would probs get Hudds a better IMG score than the John Smiths in this mad system.

I’ve seen a few people say they don’t think Huddersfield will move back if they move to Halifax temporarily. I don’t know what people are basing that on but I think Davy will build a new purpose built ground for Huddersfield regardless if it makes financial sense or not. They’ll play in Halifax for a couple of years and move into the new ground that he’ll eventually leave to the club and supporters. His dedication to that club is beyond anything else.

Fair play to him but he could let supporters in for nowt and they'd still struggle to get 6000. Even in 2013 when they finished top they had some terrible attendances.

Davy is a good bloke a dedicated fan of the club which is his life. He has been let down by the Huddersfield fans who historically withdrew their support when they moved from FARTOWN thus the years of that name being chanted at games. However I think folks in the know over there are basing it on a general consensus in local Government circles in West Yorkshire that even if the new ground project could be funded OK, the actual logistics of getting a site in Huddersfield, cleansing it, securing planning permission, community involvement and consultation traffic management plans etc is a massive obstacle. Remember when we started the KCom plan it was built by a local authority which was the planning authority on Council owned land in an approved 'Greenfield' development area in a park on an already approved sporting stadium reserved for recreation use. Even with all that it took around four years to get it done ( quite a pit of the spade work feasibility studies etc. was done even before it was announced) and there were many objections from the local community. I guess too the fact that Huddersfield haven't identified a site yet and want to buy the stadium at Halifax rather than lease it is also sending hares running. It will p*ss the Huddersfield fans off even more, it would me, but from an outsider looking in the Halifax solution (with them struggling for finance and playing in an aging stadium playing surface wise) with the size of the Shay would suit everyone including both clubs IMG ratings.

I think Davy’s late wife was a big Huddersfield fan and after her death he promised to continue to support the he club in her memory. Hence his unwavering loyalty.
Think this is solely about IMG points. Buy The Shay and make sure the advertising boards, gantry length and scoreboard pixel definitions meet all the criteria. Also 4,000 fans in a 10,000 ground scores more utilisation points than the same crowd in a 24,000 ground.
On a personal front, I think The Shay will be a better away day experience.
