I personally can't see many more high profile NRL players coming to SL after Ellis....amazing that he chose us but his return was based on family reasons ....Jennings would be a class addition at centre but why would he want to give up State of Origin? Plus the salary cap and exchange rate down there represent real obstacles. However our new regime clearly have powers of persuasion so you never know....

Was interested to read in the press this morning that Gentle has sounded out an Aussie.....mmmmm...

I appreciate that, but it is sometimes a relevant point (not that I'm saying it was in this case). What I do find strange though is his tendency to IMO take a view on a player, and then maintain that stance when commenting on various aspects of that player regardless of whether the evidence still supports that view (or ever/previously did). That’s applying exactly the same mentality as he is complaining about IMO.

but seriously your arguments are personal, lets get back to Ellis signs, i am so pleased we have signed him, because this could be our moment when we become serious contenders, i remember years ago knocker signing then the kiwis and Sterling followed.
Ellis could be our new knocker and other world class players follow him to our great club. i genuinly believe within the next three years we will be challenging for trophies, give Gentle this season and next to sort out his squad and i see a bright future.

There's an interview with David Howes in today's HDM in which he confirms another club made an offer that "blew the others out of the water". He says Ellis wasn't looking for the highest bidder and that Hull's offer ticked all the right boxes.

Howes had drawn up a shortlist from which Ellis eliminated certain clubs.
