berlin wall? reinstag? brandenberg gate? not sure how you spell them but those seem to be the top things to go see?

It's a great city but be prepared to do a lot of walking.

The Brandenburg Gate is a must see as is the Reichstag (get to that early to avoid huge queues). Not sure if the cupola (glass dome) on the roof has reopened but that offers excellent views of the city. Potsdamer Platz is very good for restaurants, cafes and shops.

Berlin Zoo is very good and be sure to visit the East Side Gallery which is a portion of the Berlin Wall around 1km long which has been covered in paintings by artists. There are plenty of excellent museums if you fancy a bit of culture including the very sombre but fascinating Jewish Museum.

Also visit Checkpoint Charlie with its famous signs indicating the former US and USSR sectors. Be prepared for large crowds there though.

In general I found the nightlife to be quiet, although I was there midweek.

Would definitely recommend one of the walking tours around the city. You get to see a lot of the sites with very informative guides and also get to see some of the things you wouldn't normally if you were just walking on your own.

We did two when we where there - a city tour and the concentration camp (which I can't remember the name of). Can't recommend enough.

If your looking for a beer try Barbie Deinhoffs bar, mindblowing is an understatement LOLOLOL

L**ds/Bradford was supposed to fly to a brand new airport but most unlike the germans it wont be finished on time.

You will enjoy the City I have been back twice since 1963/65 once was the Christmas Markets.There is many places to see.The biggest changes for me was the Wall taken down and I could touch the Brandenburg Gate and sit at the base.The walk to the gate you will see the Hotel were Micheal Jackson hung his baby over the balcony. Check Point Charlie is an other must Also go see the church Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtinskirche the new and old Take the wife shopping along Kurfustenstrasse. Tiergarten and go up the Victory Column.You need more then 3 days Go up the Television
Tower on Alexanderplatz Now you will see what I mean more then 3 days but enjoy you will want to go back,Hope this helps have a great time

The name of the camp is Sachsenhausen, it's to the north of the city. It's spooky and very humbling! An English speaking tour bus wont be to hard to find and it's a 'must' because you would miss so much if you didn't. The city's history is amazing and it's all right there in you face, in the old east of the city you can still see the strike marks on the buildings from the fierce gun battles with the Russians. The same street lights still stand on Unter den Linden (Under The Linden Tree's) that they hung German objectors and Jews alike. A beautiful boulevard with a dark history, like most of the city I guess!
I've been away to long to recommend the night life i'm afraid!

Didn't do much nightlife, but I can recommend the walking tours and the tv tower. The Gedachtniskirche was covered in scaffolding but is supposed to be spectacular.

For a thoughtful hour or two visit the Topography of Terror museum on the site of the old Gestapo HQ (some of which is still there).

When I flew to Berlin with the wife in 1963 we got a Russia escort . Fighters planes both sides of our plane.At the time there was only 3 ways in to West Berlin Road/Air/Train .most time the Russians close them off .
How thing have changed

I went for three days last year and didn't even scratch the surface. It was for a mates birthday so it was probably more nighlife orientated but we managed a city tour which was fantastic. Best piece of advice I can give is ensure you experience the east side of the city and the west side. Despite the wall coming down over twenty years ago there are still visable differences between both (sound familar?!). Like being in two different cities I found.
If you and your wife are looking to experience the nightlife I would recommend Renate - a five story squat basically. It's not for the faint hearted though. Bit like following FC!! Enjoy mate!

I would agree if the years were 1963/65 the locals use to spit at us .but the locals this day and age are great to talk to.Last time we were there we were treated differently the locals were more friendly and welcome us

Spent a week there in 2003 and absolutely loved it. One of my favourite places and keep meaning to make a return visit sometime.

I found the atmosphere to be relaxed and friendly. It was almost as if having spent 60 years being told what to do, where and when (first of all by hitler and his goons and then by the russians post war) Berliners are determined to enjoy themselves and leave their troubled past behind.

As for nightlife, I notice a couple have already mentioned Potsdammer Platz for eats and drinks. We also used to go to an area called Hackersack Market (bit unsure about the spelling) which was quite lively. Reminded me a little of market place in Hull, although that was 9 years ago so don't quite know what it's like today.
The nearest train/tube station to our hotel was Belle Vue so I've always associated Berlin with Wakefield in my rather confused mind

Also, a really nice place to go is Potsdam itself (location of the post war conference which divided up Europe along the lines which lasted until the fall of the Communist bloc in 1990). It's about 40 minutes by train from Berlin but if you're only going for 3 days you probably won't have the time to take it in.

Spent a week in Berlin with the lads in 2010.
Very little architecture of interest left after the RAF had finished with Berlin.
So in truth Berlin is a s hit hole but has does have an excellent night life.
The whores are cheap and it's easy to meet birds in the bars and clubs.
Food is average but the beer is outstanding.
So to sum up not a place to go with your bird but you'll have a good crack with the lads.
Unless your an history student then your pleasure will be greater then having your balls caressed for 40 Euro's.
