|
We announced Abdul had signed on 5th June and Cartwright's appointment on 21st May.
So only 2 weeks prior so it might be the deal was already in progress but we don't always announce signings straight away so it could have been already in the bag.
We also need to consider that the takeover wasn't a done deal back then, signings may have been on the frugal side (Abdull had cap exemptions) than now where we have lots of money in the bank.[/quote:1e015yfo]
Dan broke the story about Abdul on 13th of may..

|
Busy day of news in RL today. Ken Davy proposing he buys The Shay, renovates it for use by Huddersfield, Halifax RL and Football and then in the future moves back to a new ground in Hudds.
But you do wonder if ultimately Halifax and Hudds would just merge and stay there...
The Shay with a few new TVs and sponsor hordings would probs get Hudds a better IMG score than the John Smiths in this mad system.[/quote:st4fvdqx]
I’ve seen a few people say they don’t think Huddersfield will move back if they move to Halifax temporarily. I don’t know what people are basing that on but I think Davy will build a new purpose built ground for Huddersfield regardless if it makes financial sense or not. They’ll play in Halifax for a couple of years and move into the new ground that he’ll eventually leave to the club and supporters. His dedication to that club is beyond anything else.

Fair play to him but he could let supporters in for nowt and they'd still struggle to get 6000. Even in 2013 when they finished top they had some terrible attendances.

Davy is a good bloke a dedicated fan of the club which is his life. He has been let down by the Huddersfield fans who historically withdrew their support when they moved from FARTOWN thus the years of that name being chanted at games. However I think folks in the know over there are basing it on a general consensus in local Government circles in West Yorkshire that even if the new ground project could be funded OK, the actual logistics of getting a site in Huddersfield, cleansing it, securing planning permission, community involvement and consultation traffic management plans etc is a massive obstacle. Remember when we started the KCom plan it was built by a local authority which was the planning authority on Council owned land in an approved 'Greenfield' development area in a park on an already approved sporting stadium reserved for recreation use. Even with all that it took around four years to get it done ( quite a pit of the spade work feasibility studies etc. was done even before it was announced) and there were many objections from the local community. I guess too the fact that Huddersfield haven't identified a site yet and want to buy the stadium at Halifax rather than lease it is also sending hares running. It will p*ss the Huddersfield fans off even more, it would me, but from an outsider looking in the Halifax solution (with them struggling for finance and playing in an aging stadium playing surface wise) with the size of the Shay would suit everyone including both clubs IMG ratings.

I think Davy’s late wife was a big Huddersfield fan and after her death he promised to continue to support the he club in her memory. Hence his unwavering loyalty.
Think this is solely about IMG points. Buy The Shay and make sure the advertising boards, gantry length and scoreboard pixel definitions meet all the criteria. Also 4,000 fans in a 10,000 ground scores more utilisation points than the same crowd in a 24,000 ground.
On a personal front, I think The Shay will be a better away day experience.
