Believe what you want squire I lost all interest when you took my post out of context, your analogy was a bit naff as well to be honest.

| Don’t get the whole bagging millar, been a good half back over a long period of time - his kicking game isn’t the greatest but for our budget more than happy with him.
On the walker front has always been a good footballer but reminds me a little bit of Ryan Hudson - bit slow for a top stand off or scrum half a bit small for a loose forward, suspect his best position will probably be loose forward over time. Thought he really showed what he could do on Saturday

| Loose forward may well be Walker's best position but it is no coincidence that Ashurst had his best game for ages when he managed 80 minutes without a hospital pass.
Walker's reading of a game, passing and kicking are all better than Miller's though Miller certainly has greater pace. We should remember that we all though Neil Fox and Nigel Wright were lacking in pace but their reading of a game gave them a head start in most situations.

| If Miller were to leave, who could we realistically replace him with? They'd have to be within our budget, want to come here and be ready now. I can't think of anyone.

| Isn't Millers contract up at the end of the season along with quite a few more.
I like Miller and he gets stuck in but he doesn't back himself enough and as a result does throw some hospital passes out.

And that's where we're at. Miller is better than any half available to us at this moment in time.

| He always has great games each year. People seem to round on him as soon as he has a quiet game.
He's had to go through last two seasons with inexperienced hookers and scrum halves and a pack getting beaten.
I have no problem with Miller. He's not perfect but what he does he does well.
Now we have Hood he'll get much better ball and hopefully we get a osrtnership with Lino going again.

Out of interest, why do you not think he`s ready? He looks every bit ready to me to be honest every time he plays he looks comfortable, I guess you don`t know how a body will hold up to this level of rugby every week but not sure when you will find if you don`t give him the chance, its not like he`s a young lad that still doesn`t look all there, physically he looks there to me 100%.
Brads obviously a special player, when you go back and look at the side he captained in England Academy, the majority of those player are now playing every week in SL, he`s ready now IMO and I think we are going to see him in the side.

| Having seen Walker play on Saturday I'd put Miller 3rd behind Gaskell & Walker. Possibly 4th if Kaye had a shot at it.

Mainly because SO was not his main position so a gradual placement would help imho. Also don’t think Miller has lost his place yet.

| Given that Walker took on the role of leading the team on Saturday, and did it superbly… I think he deserves to retain the role… if Miller is fit (and willing to play) then I have Miller and Walker vs Saints… if Miller and Lino are fit Lino on the bench in place of Bowes in the squad… Kaye starting dummy half
Although Batch did ok I think he must move in a notch and play right edge forward… and I would start Whitbread at loose against Saints
It’s fun this… I should be head coach

Lino on the bench to play hooker? I wouldn't do that.
Assuming Hood is injured I'd play Bowes from the start at 9 and jeep Kay on the bench to switch over.

Agree, one thing that really got me annoyed about Chester was that he was insistent on playing players out of position to fill gaps.
We need a 9 to step into Hoods shoes. Bowes is a 9 - it’s that simple. Chester would end up playing Crowther there in this exact scenario (not knocking Crowther btw). It used to drive me barmy but it appears that Poching is more trusting of the deeper echelons of his squad.

Depends what you mean by out of position.
Batchelor did a great job on Saturday but he’s not just out of position but it is clearly not his best position and probably never will be.
Players like Bowes and especially Walker are far more fluid. For Walker this is the opportunity to finally nail down a position. If he doesn’t grab the HB role this time he will be utility forever, not a bad thing just the reality.
What I’m saying is that it’s ok in an emergency - Batch or as a genuine trial - Walker.
What CC and so many other coaches get wrong is that they won’t back down when they are wrong.
Jowitt is a perfect example. He looked like a play anywhere person and SO looked well within his reach. I was an advocate myself but I was wrong and it soon became obvious. Yet CC decided to play him almost anywhere but FB whilst favouring inferior players, it’s that I don’t get, it’s self destructive.
Some players are not in their best positions, ones plonked on them as kids but most are. It takes a keen eye and patience to spot them and transform them but I wouldn’t want to stop coaches trying, just know when you’re wrong.
Kay looks like a right decision but then there was history there.
