It's a good point you make, everything's relative isn't it. So considering our 'success' over the last 60 years, then do we expect too much? Or, given the fact we've now been in the top flight since '99, and we've probably troubled the top 5 about 4 or 5 times, and reached no major final in those 23 years, are we where we are 'supposed' to be for a club of our size, and the financial infrastructure we have?! Also, it's about 3 years roughly since we went down to London, in 3rd place in the league, on the back of 2 seasons finishing 5th. Since then, basically freefall......

The club have enough cover for TJ.

Would have Derrel he'll be cheapish and would be a good squad player and he's a Wakey lad n fan and then it allows you to spend the rest on more pivotal positions,Kay could stay at hooker with Boyles and so on.

Plenty of options to look at , I’m sure Poching and his staff are all over the new recruitment ,but unfortunately don’t keep us informed until a deal is done ,much to the displeasure of some fans ,who’d still moan if they were getting hourly updates . Let the coach and staff do their job ,I’m sure all will be revealed when the time is right , and leave us to do our ,which is to support the team and club as best we can .

I'd hazard a guess that now the Super League T.V. gravy train has financially dropped dramatically, so the club's ability to offer decent salaries has done the same.

Getting people through the gates is the best way to increase revenue, but how do you expect people to rock-up when the only elation you're likely to achieve is avoiding relegation!

Every club in S.L. (barring Toulouse) have been to a major final in recent years,I've just turned sixty & the only time I've seen Wakey in a major final was forty odd years ago!

I suppose it's the old chicken and egg situation isn't it. Bradford did it under Peter Deakin, he transformed that club in a short space of time, crowds from around 4,000 up to 10,000, then as success on the field happened, they were getting over 20k for Leeds games etc. The switch to Summer was embraced by them better than everybody else. I know it all fell apart eventually, but it wasn't like they were one season wonders, they had almost 10 years of trophies. He was innovative, and took risks and it paid off, whether you liked what they did on match-days or not, it worked. I guess it helped having Odsal because it was so massive, even though it was run-down, he saw the potential. I believe he went to Saracens and transformed them too. I think we need to look at other sports, globally as well, see how American Football teams get 50, 60k attending with populations of 100k etc. We need to explore other avenues apart from the tried and trusted, as eventually we probably will run out of luck.....

I think WP has hit the nail on the head regarding players leaving/arriving. It's
a cycle and always has been. IMO the biggest issue is with three players:-
TJ - but a replacement looms - perhaps he may also be more injury free?
DF - IF he goes we do need a replacement.
JM - Again IF it's true, although I'm not as fanatical as some on here about his performances, yes, he will have to be replaced, simply because we don't have another stand off on the books (I don't think).
In my book any other player out of contract who goes, is replaceable
And, let's not forget, the first three are probably the biggest earners at the club so that frees a lot of money up.
Just one final thing. Even with the players mentioned above in the squad, where are we n ow? second bottom - perhaps, if we do escape relegation the team needs a big shake up anyway.

I've accepted TJ is leaving.
I don't think we'll find a more valuable player than Fifita so I'd really like to push it to keep him.
Miller I'd like to keep but is replacable. But not with a has been English player. Needs an up and coming young player to compliment Lino.

Sorry if I'm missing something here but we seem to be sleepwalking into relegation!We may have 13/14 matches left, but how many of those are needed to turn it around, if at all?Toulouse are miles away now from the pushovers we expected, and even if we beat them at Newcastle that's no guarantee of safety.We seem to be making the mistake of thinking 'it's only Toulouse', and I was just as guilty, but their owners are seeing a clearer picture than us, and making game changing decisions,whilst we aren't,or nothing that we know about.It's understandable that we discuss what our team might look like next season, but what are we going to do about this one?
If anybody thinks I'm panicking for no reason and there's plenty of time to get enough points, fair enough, hope you're right, but I'm not so sure.

Absolutely massive. He was the best 13 in SL for me last year, especially with his ball playing ability. He had a strong physical presence too in the middle.

As good as Westerman was individually, it hardly transferred to the team overall, in fact it wasn't until the end of the season when he featured less that we started looking like something of a team.

I never took Toulouse lightly, they have a bigger budget and better backing than we have, however I thought we would be better than how the season has unfolded so far, meaning we finish higher than a few of the English clubs. That's looking unlikely now and I cant see us getting enough wins to keep us up.

I say it every season, every game for us is a must win game as you just never know when we hit that brick wall , we simply dont have the luxury of buying ours out of trouble , the lad have to roll their collective sleeves up and work their way out of this sink hole we find ourselves slipping into . Still plenty of games in the bank but we desperately need to start looking like a competitive squad , we’re just all at 6s n 7s in our attacking structures whilst fairing a bit better in defence but nothing to write home about . Most of our tries have come from off the cuff moves instead of structured , we are easily defended against as everything is telegraphed and with the passing being clunky and no one willing or able to run onto the ball hard enough to drag defenders in and get our backs a clear run in .

From which games are we going to pick up our required wins?

That run in looks, in the most part, a nightmare. Obviously Toulouse at magic is a must. As i’ve put elsewhere i had Warrington at home as a target given we’ve done them 3 times since Willie took over but their new signings have just made that harder. Salford is possible, they blow hot & cold and are down on forwards. Hull KR x2 are the ones that might help, they’ve dropped significantly since Smith announced he was leaving. But none look bankers any more.
