I think that we may have one eye on the cup game but, your right, this is a game that we all want to win.

When this season started I made one prediction and set a few what I thought were attainable targets.

The prediction was that we would be better than last year, we just had to be. Not a massive leap considering how dreadful we were. That came tru for me instantly, against Wuidnes we were disjointed and brittle but we were clearly fitter and there was clearly more intent so hats off to BS for that. At this point I really felt we might not end up bottom - seems really modest now but was a big leap of faith at the time.

Next were the goals I set the team in my head obviouly not oin their's. Now I'm not jumping the gun, we stiil don't look great and Fifita is a gamble and Moore is always a gamble. I'm fully aware that the job is nowhere near done. However what I will say though is we are far closer at this point in the season than I ever thought we would be and tbh most of them I didn't think we'd get close to - I am frankly shocked. It's probably worse takink stock as the next few weeks will be the real deciders.

FWIW and in order of prority and likelyhood.

1: Don't finish bottom.
2: Wherever we finish in the bottom four avoid the MPG.
3: Finish 9th or 10th.
4: Pinch 8th spot.
5: Beat a SL team in the CCup.
6: Finish above Cas and get normal service resumed on that one



Didn't even contemplate going beyond that, in fact 4 - 6 seemed wishfull thinking in the extreme.

I suspect most peoples wish list was similar or probably a little less optinistic. So for the kneejerk mini melt down merchants who storm out of the woodwork after every defeat just look how far we have come and be gratefull. For me not being in the bottom 4 is the ultimate prize, that and watching some first class RL this season - the rest if there is a rest will be a bonus.

Nah, Chester will see the top 8 as the priority and rightly so. It's my dream to go to Wembley but not as HKR did last year with one eye looking over my shoulder. I would give up Wembley in a heartbeat to win of Friday. Of course should that happen the above will no longer be an issue and then the Cup becomes interesting and hopefully a bit of real fun.

I don't think that many fans, even the most optimistic, had any realistic thoughts beyond no. 3 on your list.
Of course, we all dream that in a perfect world, certain things may happen but, this season has surpassed everything that was even remotely possible.
As we all know, this rarely happens at Wakefield and really, being where we are, we need to live the dream and hope that things can get even better.
Re-assess where we are and set new targets about what we may want to achieve.
If we don't do this, the season will just fizzle away and I would love (Kevin Keegan style

) if we can beat Leeds on Friday, Knock Shudds out of the cup and do Wigan at their place and then we might be able to book our coaches to London. I'd even save a seat for Mr Wane, although not to many people would want the seat next to him

If I was to make a list starting now, knowing what I know about the team
1) Secure a top 8 finish
2) Get to the Challenge Cup Semi Final
3) Don't get hammered in any game from now to the end of the playoffs
4) Finish as high as we can in the league

Stretch targets
5) Win the semi
6) go on another winning run that takes us into the top 4 in the Super 8s

Oh to Dream
7) Wembley

James Childs is referee.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but I don't think we have ever won a game that he has refereed.

Years ago we used to beat Leeds with him as ref. I think it might have been 2010 or something similar.

It's James Child not "Child's" it amazes me how people continually criticise him but can't get his name right.
All that said I am by far his biggest fan and even started a face book site suggesting that we find out where he lives and leave something in his bath


I can remember being stood on the western terrace with Leeds fans and them carrying on about mr "child" being a Wakey fan and then one of their own pointing out he lives in LS27 and is a Leeds supporter, we won that day but can only remember one other occasion we won when he was in charge

I have a large selection of ducks for his bath.

He's from WF12. Don't know where he lives now...bloody restraining order!

He was ref against Leigh in last years middle 8's I think which we won of course but can't remember many we've won with him in charge. Certainly in his early days of Super League refereeing he was just the most pedantic I'd ever seen.

Everyone knows his style, he's pedantic so it's up to the players to be smart. No laying on or messing about at the PTB.

On the pus side, Leeds haven't won many games with any of the SL ref's in charge, this season

hopefully bell vue will be packed this will put us in the top 8!!!! Get there!!!!!!!!!!

Bookies give us 2 start. I thought we would be favourites for this.

Bearing in mind the number of penalties we've conceded already this season in almost every game then I can see us being penalised to death in this one unless we are absolutely squeaky clean.
