Pace isnt everything in the halves....getting a combination that work together behind a strong pack is key for me.....call Sykes a 33 centre all ya like Dave but he has been a class 6 for us....a very underated player and one you dont appreciate fully until you see him week in week out doing all the little things right....a far, far better playet than i thought he was before we signed him......having said that....Finn wouldnt be for me....although he could surprise like sykes has......think we also need to pray sykes stays injury free.....

Honesty pal I aren't knocking either player - I just think as a pairing it wouldn't work. Their attributes don't seem to blend very well, that's not to say they don't have any.

As I say, I do think you need a degree of pace and flair in the halves, and as a pair I think that'd be their shortfall.

Again, that's not to say they're poor in their positions individually.

You don't rate them Dave, nowt wrong with that viewpoint, I don't imagine as a half back pairing they're top of most Trinity supporters list either but if that's thats what we end up with so be it.

Finn has been outstanding in the Championship - at Leigh, we're sick of the sight of him! - playing behind a good dominant pack. It would be interesting to see how he fares in SL.

Leeds in big games stick to a failry basic game plan with few handling errors, then turning the ball over in good areas, applying pressure, forcing mistakes, then taking what chances they have. They don't have a very expansive game in big matches, they keep it tight.

So after making myself feel physically ill having to talk about the front wheel skids, I shall leave the speculation page...

Finn certainly did well against SL opposition a couple of seasons back when Fev ripped cas apart and ran a very close 2nd to the best team in the country

In all seriousness the problem comes when people confuse facts with opinions.
Both writers and readers.

It does wind me up when people state their opinions like facts as we spend the next page with an argument about whether they are right.
It's not a big deal but it's where the discussions go wrong.

It's just the difference between
"They can't play together" and
"I don't think they'll be able to play well together because......"

We'll still all argue but it's easier to see what we are discussing.

Yes some people may put there opinions across in a manner you dont really like, but does it matter really?? Argue your point (in a civilised manner) as this is what the forum is all about.

Exactly, if you can't except others views may not be in line with yours you are in the wrong place.

I thought that it was 'given', 'accepted', 'default' that what people post on the forum is an opinion not a fact, no matter how it's worded or put across. Unless they start quoting references or sources to evidence their statement and prove it to be the case and therefore a 'fact' I always just take it as an opinion which I may or may not agree with.

I sometimes get pulled up by posters (Dee Hell most recently) because I state my opinion in strong terms or in such a manner that someone comes back asking me to prove it!

Summed up to a 'T'. I used to post regularly on the old Wakefield forum but hardly ever do on here because of this reason and i just stick to reading occaisionally. 'Nasty Vasty' could start an argument in an empty room, he was always the same even years ago on the old board. Its a bit sad really but whatever floats your boat i suppose. It's not just us that suffers though, he has always tended to go winding up fnas on other boards too, hence many people on here don't think much of wakey fans. Such is life, every teams board seems to have one numpty that live to get peoples back up. I find the foe button quite useful for eliminating the trolls, just leave them talking to themselves.

Anyhoo back on topic, boy do we need a scrum half! Sykes I like at stand off and Goulding as back up is fine. So add a quality 7 now and i reckon we can surprise a few people. Not Finn though don't think he is up to myself. People on here used phrases for Thomas Bosc such as 'past it' and 'yesterdays man' and this may well be the case. But he is the same age age Finn so for me the same counts. Bosc has at least proven himself at superleague level, over the last decade since we released him, every superleague coach has left Finn alone and his new coach at Fev has brought in someone else to play his position so i'll trust their judgement and say leave him in the championship.

Josh Drinkwater keeps getting mentioned? Now i know he denied it on twitter but he randomly started following the club on there recently, the only english club he does? Maybe he is the young aussie we are chasing? Don't know whether he is any good but I trust Agar to get it right. Although it is always a risk and i hope he settles better than Issac John did.

Backs look good, just need some depth and the forwards look very strong. But they won't win you the game alone, and that quality scrum half is the missing piece of the jigsaw. Hope we get one.

Anyway i'm off back into hibernation now i've brought up my 100th. Sad i know!
