| Does anyone have a jockey, trainer, or both that you just can't seem to do the right thing and win with??
Always pay close attention to anything the Fahey yard has at any Northern track...followed him when I went to York a few weeks back (without success) and again tonight at Ponte (again without success)
Backed Paul Hanagan in 3 consecutive races tonight (2 for Fahey) then for some bizarre reason just as the words were coming out of my mouth to back him again I had a change of heart and backed against it. The very second I walked away with the printed ticket in my hand I knew what was gonna happen...he went onto win the race at 5's (6's) when I was putting my bet on!
I just never seem to be able to back those two at the right time!
Robinson Cruso in the last didn't half get me out of the sticky stuff!

Swilly Ferry - Interesting runner for Barry Hills, he's had just the two starts this season and both have been over course and distance (behind Pastoral Player in April and behind Jack My Boy on Guineas weekend). His first start he got no sort of run when hampered and finishing 2nd of 14 in his group with a decent speed figure for a race of this nature . Swilly Ferry saw too much daylight last time out when running behind Jack My Boy - he could do with getting more cover which he should get in the large field at Newmarket today with the form of the two races working out well enough and an extra pull at the weights with both Pastoral Player and Jack My Boy who've both gone up for their two Newmarket runs and with the helping hand from Michael Hills and with plenty of pace drawn low he should be able to get a decent tow into the race behind horses so as not to use up too much energy pulling.
Advice: 2pts Win, 1pt Place @ 20/1 (Ladbrokes)

| I never back anything that Hanagan rides anymore. I've seen him ride too many good horses poorly for my liking so decided to give him a miss. It's definitely paid off not backing him recently, he's been woeful on a few rides and it's always nice to see when his ride allows the one I've backed to win!
Back to Beverley again tomorrow, have a few fancies but not had an in depth look yet. Anybody else like the look of anything?

| Lord Shanakill should win today. Main Aim has the talent but also is very quirky and finds trouble in running. Lord Shanakill is very capable and looked as good as ever on his first start for Henry Cecil last month, dropping down to 7f should play to his pace as well.
Short price but Carraiglawn will take all the beating in Ireland for the Bolger and Manning team. Has looked a winner waiting to happen twice and they seem to have found the perfect opportunity.

inxile.2.00.hay 9/2
ransom note.2.45. newm 9/2

some intresting racing today
im paying paticular attention to how gene autry runs.. finished 2nd to madam macie which my mate owns and they think very highly of it.. hope gene autry franks the form! also madam macie got beaten by electric feel which runs in the 3.55. newmarket so this should be a good horse too although got some good opposition today.
rio cabolo.2.55. catt this one has won at the track before and ran well last week so should be thereabouts
chosen one.5.25. bev my mate bought this for £500 then on its first run for the yard it won and seller! sold it on for £5500 then it won again at musselburgh for new yard. staying on side with it again today while its in this form

| Wigan +6pts the call today.
Leeds have picked up of late but on sound surfaces. The rain may work against them and in theory (and looking at the league table) Wigan are the better side. The start makes them an attractive proposition.

Was an absolute belter. I fancied Barshiba to win it, Hanagan probably knew he wasn't on the best horse in the race but was on a handy one none the less and managed to run them all into the ground except the second, who given a few more strides, would've won.

Brilliant Superb tipping. Gambled on it drifting so only got the SP of 12/1 but that's more than enough for me. Superb mate. If I ever meet you I owe you a keg!

First one of yours I've backed, only went small due to the 'Hills' factor in the saddle, but nice one, superb tipping again...

I know there are quite a few thinking that and I can understand why to some degree but I'm happy with my choice.

Batley scored just before half time. HT 6-26 ... Don't know who's played up the slope, so no chickens being counted yet but so far so good.

| Great stuff today with a few people on the Catalans against Batley - the Wigan +6 looked good from the start and it wasn't in too much doubt, Swilly Ferry romped home at Newmarket and our syndicate lease horse Waynesworld did the business for us, Maz Scudamore and Nick Pierce (jockey) when hacking up by a distance in the feature race - the Mens Open at Dingley Point-To-Point. Great day
