| First time post but have read the forum for a long time, Friday night after the culmination of a bad week (lost job). I was exceptionally disappointed in the result, and facing a 1-2 hour drive home, My family and myself (all season ticket holders) left on the final whistle and did not stop to thank the players for their effort across the season, nor to say goodbye to the people around us who we have sat with for the last few years, I know they read this message board so I would like to apologise for not saying goodbye properly. I do not yet know if we will renew our season ticket next year, depends on work and getting over the disillusionment we feel with Rugby in general ( not Wigan) , RFL, officials etc very similar to a lot of the comments on the Bilko thread. Hopefully when we have time to reflect we will be back and see you next year.

Remember, 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger', to appreciate the good times we have to go through the bad times, keep the faith, we will be back

| Dont be sorry!!! This is the same team that sprinted off the pitch at the final whistle of the semi final in the Challenge Cup without clapping the Wigan supporters what so ever.

| Did they do anything after the game? I clapped them off (not sure why) and then stormed off myself.

They walked round in dribs and drabs. Nothing special.

Good luck on the job front.
Know what you mean about disillusionment, the people in charge of our sport are not just allowing the game to die a slow death at professional level, they are playing an active part in making that happen through a failure to manage clubs properly, the inability to land appropriate TV and sponsorship deals and because of wrong or incorrectly implemented structures.
I've been talking on these boards about the salary cap, franchising and the RFL generally for years and have received loads of abuse and nonsensical replies from people (Saints and Wire fans in the main, but some Wigan fans too) as a result.
These people are too stupid (or hate Wigan so much and seem to think the early 90s would return if anything changed so they'd rather the game withered and died than risk that...) to recognise that the game is in real trouble. The fact that so many people connected with RL think (or at least pretend) that everything is ok is what really depresses me. It isn't just those in authority who are standing by while the game dies....

2553.gif I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league

| also took me till sat morning as the daze of the beer cleared to realise I never clapped tommy and george off. lima and finch in all honesty have been a bit fly by night but those two have been a real credit to the club.
I then realise that by leaving early I got served straight away and thought the boys would've been proud of me - so, I'm over it.

| The club need to improve the way they handle saying goodbye to departing/retiring players. The NRL (esp Melbourne Storm) are very good at this. They make the final league game of the season a real event, let the leaving players run on first through a flag/banner saying thank you. I don't feel we got to say goodbye/thanks to Tommy and George properly. 2 class acts.

Loads of people went down from what I could see - in the East and South.
Also who claimed we're the best fans in the league?

Easier said than done in a final or your guaranteed last game. However if they had run out against Leeds proclaiming it was their last game i am pretty confident that 99.99% of the home crowd would be asking for Mr Lenegans head on a platter.
