He's not just a slick commentator, he was genuinely funny during the NZ/Samoa game and his comments added to what was already an enjoyable match.

It makes such a difference to how the game comes across, especially for the neutral I'd imagine.

Bt sports are currently freeview like Premier, I dunno if it is just for the month of october. I'm on the free minimum package with virgin and only noticed BT sports was free when I looked for Premier sports.

The commentary was excellent... Mainly because it was COMMENTARY, not two blokes, in safe seats, filled with their own self importance, talking total because they have gotten away with it for far far too long...

Branson paid a few hundred million for BT sports, been on since about 5th August for free.

I agree the premier commentary was great, knowledgable, enthusiastic, funny and he managed a pint! A pie! and a game of darts.
IMO this thread is unfair on Eddie and Steve, it's like comparing real broad sheet journalism to a Tabloid reporter. Eddie and Steve are employed to entertain and make up stories for a viewing audience that aren't RL fans.(see american sports reporting formula= 2 tanned bland suits not ment to offend) Sky don't care about us, we will pay for it anyway

I agree Voss is excellent. I particularly liked how informative he was about Warrington and the HJ. He was commentating to the world, whereas Sky or BBC commentate to a UK audience and assume all viewers are up to speed, if that makes sense. However, I would be happy never to hear Carney's voice ever again! I can't stand the way he talks through an entire set of plays. He's not the only culprit, though. It seems to be the style of commentating over here.

really nice tonight being able to hear exactly what the video ref is saying. makes a really good contribution to the game, and allows you to understand exactly why someone is making the decision they are.
definitely something SKY should do for next season

Really enjoying the coverage of the games on both the beeb and Premier

Knew nothing about Premier Sports last week and, to be honest, i was underwhelmed with what they had on show before the world cup started. I have to say however that their coverage has been excellent so far and i havent once wanted to switch over to BBC and i haven't missed those 2 tits on sky at all

Might just be my Vbox but check your link is working for all matches as I found out purely by accident last night that mine was only set to record 8 games and have had to press the series link again for Saturday's games and beyond.
Could just be our machine throwing a wobbler but nothing worse than thinking you've set something to record only to find you haven't got anything to watch after all

I take it by your comments you have only recently got
premier as can't see how you can be underwhelmed by 8 games of NRL every week plus state of origin and play off series

Baz and Tez. Probably the most stereotypical, cringeworthy bag of garbage iv ever seen. I bet fans of other sports tune in, burst out laughing, and then switch it off.

Thats mainly because they have all had refreshed commentary teams over the years. Rugby League kind of has but Eddie & Stevo still linger on. To be honest I don't think it needs much. Cut the gimmicks (Phil Clarke could go entirely for me, he's reduced himself to spouting irrelevant nonsense), seperate the studio from commentary box entirely and have different commentary teams (just two people, three at a push) between the two games each weekend. They could do that and still cut the staff list by about half.

Just a word of caution here. I 100% agree the World Cup coverage has generally been fantastic, but it is not the norm for Premier Sports. Once the tournament is over all the Aussie commentators return to the NRL, which is fantastic.

The Championship games are in my opinion worse than Sky in relation to the commentary. Really poor. Usually Dave Woods and Brian Noble, along with a Championship player and at times it can be painful.
