The same could be said for any team if the wrong result comes in a crunch game. No matter what, sh*t happens!

Not exactly, any win against you lot's always welcome. And besides, we weren't too far off our best, at least defensively. Rather than disappointed, I'm slightly uneasy. I thought Wigan were pretty good and with a full complement of players might actually pose more of a threat than us later in the season. I hadn't thought that until now but I saw enough last night in your performance to suggest you're in for some silverware - if you can keep Sam and keep your players injury-free.

3rd at best - 5th at worst. Really depends on how seriously Leeds/Stains take the regular season, and whether Huddersfield do their traditional 2nd half collapse.

I thought he did pretty well, considering he was kicking from deep in our own half most of the time.

This is the pertinent point. With 7 players out from what, pre-season, was likely to be our first choice line up including the bulk of our pack and the reigning man of steel, to lose to a near full-strength Leeds team in their own back yard by only 4 points should be giving confidence for the back end of the season. In the end it will, in all probability, come down to injuries, or lack of them! With Mossop, Prescott, Hanson and Luaki available that pack is a completely different proposition. Add Sam into the mix and you all but have a different team. That's not to say the young lads aren't doing us proud. However it's asking too much to expect them to beat all before them week after week. That's where experience is invaluable. Full strength we can bet anyone. What these last few weeks have proven is that, on our day, even understrength we are still among the best in the competition.

| I feel much better about our chances of winning silverware now than I did in January. Take out any team's best attacker (Sam), both starting props (Prescott and Mossop) and one second rower (Hansen) and they'll struggle way more than we our still getting used to playing without Hock. We'll be well capable of beating any team once these lads are back from injury and the Green/Smith and Thornley/Richards combos have had some time to gel, not to mention the raft of new faces we have this season who are bound to improve as the season progresses. I'm just glad Wane's not throwing any half fit players out there (Richards excepting), we need everyone fit and in form at the business end of the season.

| I think this year of all years we were going to have a slow start. New players, new combinations, injuries galore. I think we are in great shape to win the LLS, and for years to come.

A win against Wigan is always welcome.Lots of Leeds errors, didn't get out of second gear and they still won which pleases me; now I know they are saving it for the business end of the season.

| There were lots of Leeds errors and the reason they didn't get out of second gear is because they are stuck there.
As for a full Leeds team, we know Hardaker and Ben J Bishop were out but who else was missing?

True but with the team that we had out and the field position and ball that Leeds had I think that we could and should have lost by far more. Yes Wigan lost but in losing by such a small margin and with all things considered it was certainly no disaster for Wigan and there are a lot of positives to take out of it.

Those two players missing has totally unbalanced our backline. One of them has been replaced by a player who has never played a first grade game before he came to this country.
And those opportunities we bombed still took some creating. You should probably be thankful we made so many errors or it could have been embarrassing.

No, it isn't. Leeds on another day could have put on a big score. Wigan didn't look like threatening much at any point.

I very much doubt that.
The better team won on the night, but just saying that it might have been better for you had the occasional dropped pass struck is like us saying it might have been better for us had Farrell been given a penalty when the ball was stripped and most of your team was still walking back, exhausted.
Instead of trying to invent reasons why Wigan are less good than the scoreline suggested, you should expend some brain power trying to work out why you only just managed to beat so young, inexperienced and injury-stricken a team. Like it or not, that's what you did.

:s Wigan on another day could have won, all it takes is Liam Farrell keeping hold of the ball after his break and we score. You were the better team for sure but our lads showed a lot of composure to keep the score lines close and almost nick it. If we never looked threatening you wouldn't have shipped 14 points + almost another try, not forgetting our last attack of the game where we went about 80 metres.
Come the end of the season, when hopefully both sides will be full strength and in form, there won't be much to choose between us

You mean in the same way you are trying to convince yourself that the narrow scoreline means Leeds are somehow inferior pound for pound?
If you don't mean that, then I am not sure why I need to 'work out' anything. I am more than happy with the win. Looking at the game as a whole, we offered far more threat and sometimes they stick, sometimes they don't. If we had played e, then maybe I would be concerned.
