| Is this a wind up?
Joel has been one of our most consistent performers all season. He's played prop, 2nd row, loose forward, centre and stand off, all to a good standard. He plays with passion and pride week in and week out and if he makes a mistake he makes up for it in other ways. I'm no happy clapper but Joel Tomkins is a hell of an athlete and a hell of a rugby player. I'm delighted we have kept him!!

He's Garbage, cost us 14 points today, we would have won without him in the team.

Don't talk daft pal. He worked his nuts off as usual. A few lads were off their game today, Sutton had a shocker! The simple truth is, with the personnel on show, we had no right to be in with a shout today and a draw isn't a bad result when everything is taken into consideration.

Soz Joel, but the young lads got us the draw along with Lockers the Ledge, You as usual pegged us back due to bad discipline, inabilty to catch and general ness..
Sutton dropped two but made up with strong drives and defense and he's a young un so catches a break, you were e as usual.

Some people can't see the wood for the trees but each to their own. He'd be in my squad every week without question. Sutton did drive it hard yes, Joel was bone shaking in defence. The ball he dropped off Lockers was understandable, it was like a rocket at full pelt!

| Joel Is Pants and i am raging that i have to put up with him for another 2 seasons, i must have shouted at the tv 10 or 11 times "why the f*** are you passing to Tomkins" then low and behold a crap pass or a dropped balled, very poor and only at the club because of 2 reasons, 1, his name is Tomkins and 2, it's a case of jobs for the boys, fans seem to forget how he p1ssed us off to go and play union for big money, then came back with his tail between his legs due to the fact he was crap and failed, we should have let KR sign him seeing as no other SL club where interested

| His worst game of the season without doubt for me but he's having a good season overall and we're lucky to have him signed up.
Both he and Lockers were guilty tonight of poor concentration at points. I thought Lockers provided some great moments of skill in between that whereas Joel just couldn't get going.

Fair summary this. Lockers is like a fine wine and just keeps getting better but he was guilty of a few errors tonight. Joel wasn't up to his usual consistent standard but we're a far better side when they both play. If anything I'd say they were trying too hard to set the standard for the young lads.

How can you criticise Lockers? Our best player by some stretch today, high shot notwithstanding.

He was very good (as usual). I did think he was guilty of one or two errors though. For example when he made the break and fired the pass at Joel, I thought he should have kept hold of it because we had tackles in the bank and it was never really on. The head shot was just unfortunate and would never have happened if Brown had a standard sized neck!! Haha!!

Lockers' best 'moment of skill' was nearly taking Kevin Browns head off and staying on the pitch. Magic!

| Lockers should show more experience than he does and it's the only department he needs to improve but it costs us and he should know better. I, like an earlier post never want to see the ball passed to Joel (or Isa for that matter) the Joel from the 2011 Wembley final is a long distant memory

| What costs us is when Lockers gets spelled. We were comfortable yesterday until he went off and that's not the first time this season either.

As I said there were some moments of brilliance mixed in. He carried the ball well and really lead the team about. It doesn't take away the fact that he also made some poor errors by pushing things too much. Had the team showed a little more composure at 18-6 up I think we'd have saw the game out comfortably.
No doubt the biggest culprits on the night were Joel and FPN though. I've stuck up for Nuuausala recently but he was poor last night.

I was annoyed with Isa last night as well, good defensively as always but he really needs to start contributing in attack. There were a couple of occasions in the second half we had an overlap on but all he knows to do is run it in and take the tackle, so frustrating because with his physical attributes he could be a top back rower in this league if he hadn't any semblance of an attacking brain.

| Since his return from union he simply hasn't been anywhere near his best, decent this season though in fairness but in a squad that's blighted by injuries can the club seriously re sign a player bedevilled by his own injury problems?.
It's an odd one, unless of course this is if and when Wigan have 18 players fit (prolly 2033)he will start towards an off field career as mentioned in the press release.

| I think the thing with Joel is when (and if) we ever get close to a fully fit team he would be used as an impact player off the bench against tiring defenses. Last night he was alternatively playing second row, stand-off and even hooker plus was on the pitch for a lot longer than he would otherwise, yes he made some mistakes - he was far from the only one.
What last night showed clearly
Williams needs an organising scrum half along side him - he was poor last night due to trying to do everything - if anyone doubts what Tommy L brings to the team last night showed it in William's performance,
We missed props FPN was ineffective, Sutton up and down, TT was our best by a country mile.
Lockers is still the best LF in SL (tried too hard but still made most of our tries).
McIlorum needs to concentrate on playing rather than trying to be the defensive enforcer - he could have been done for at least 2 shoulder charges and tended to fly out of the line way too much - we missed Powell.
Marshall is a natural winger,.

I'd agree with all of that.
What happened to Josh Woods? Was it serious? Was pleased that SW was bold enough to have him alongside George; the lad looks to have a good kicking game. Which we need as George still only has a short kicking game.

| We need to put it into some perspective. We started last night without our first choice fullback (Tomkins) and our first choice reserve full back (Escare). We started without one of our first choice wingers (Manfredi) and our other first choice winger playing out of position in the centres (Burgess). We started without our first choice scrum half (Leuluai) and our first and second choice reserve scrum halves (Powell and Shorrocks). Our 4th choice scrum half (Woods) went off early due to injury. We started without two of our best props (Flower and Clubb) and without one of the best second rowers on the league (Bateman).
Despite all of that and playing with 3 subs for most of the game we almost came away with a win. I'd say quite confidently that with a few of the above in the side, Lockers and Tomkins performance would have been even better but they seemed to take on all of the responsibility and were only guilty of trying too hard. It was even Lockers bomb that led to our last try!
The young lads have done the club and their families proud but it's too soon to expect so many of them to play together and expect to beat a Warrington side who might not be on fire but who had won 6 out of their last 7 games, compared to 3 wins from our last 9.
To scapegoat Joel Tomkins for not getting the win last night is laughable! Big picture please folks!!

| I've thought it for a while, but what the squad is really missing (even when everyone is fit) is a top level prop who can do big mins.
We soaked up a hell of a lot of pressure and a top prop really comes to the fore in situations like that wirh big metres.

Fully agree. We've been down to the bare bones in the squad, we are starting (hopefully) to see some of the senior players return week by week. Judge Joel in a strong line-up.
