Hi all,
Great article on the development of RL within the school system in the South East today - online at:
www.independent.co.uk/news/educa ... 14595.html
Be grateful if you could pass the link on to any interested parties and perhaps buy a copy of the paper today. There are some great photos accompanying the paper version.
With thanks.

| Cracking article is that.
Nice to see such positivity about RL in the South in a daily paper.
Even better that it highlights the work in Essex.

| This should be a great opportunity for League. Correct me if i am wrong, but there is no major soccer, or union club in Essex

Barking and Dagenham are pretty handy but yes you would not call
them major clubs. Both especially Dagenham have provided RL juniors
in the London junior league in recent times.

| Now the most read article in the Indy Ed section.
In terms of major football teams, that would be West Ham territory, which stretches up to North Essex.

However, Barking RFC are having an incredible season in National Two South, 10 wins from 10.

See what you mean re Barking but Dagenham had a number of u16`s
playing for Brentwood in the u16`s and reached the London Junior League
finals a few years back and only lost to West London who had Quins academy players on show as the ref who shall remain nameless blew up early in a very high scoring game.

| Good, uplifting article.
I was stunned to find out recently that a school in a posh part of Bromley played RL.
If only we had more positive stuff regarding our mob.

| Hi all,
Out of interest, did any of you catch the 3 minute slot we got on the back of this article on BBC London news yesterday at 6:50pm? Part of Mark Bright's Friday sports news slot?
I can't find it on the iplayer so I think it's been made unavailable. I did hard drive it, so I'll try to get it up on youtube.
A really nice article with interviews with teachers and parents about how popular RL is at the school, with clips of Quins and the CC Final mixed in.
I came on here thinking you'd have all posted about it, but maybe 6:50 on a Fri isn't as prime time as I previously thought and you were all en route home from work, or down the pub!

.....This same article was on the lunchtime news slot as well. Nearly chocked on my sandwich seeing something on Rugby League on local news. But like haydee said it was a good article and nice to hear that at this school football is a third choice sport for these kids behind RL... Well done to all involved with this at the school.
