I cannot think of a worse period for trying to sell season tickets.
The performances, the economy etc etc. We need a few good results by the end of the season if people are going to fork out for next year.
Maybe they think we will get amnesia and forget the second half of the season.

| Quote ="gutterfax"I do not believe in Dance acts in TW2, but Wakey are to be applauded for their efforts getting a 7k+ crowd for the visit of the welsh. 4 weeks continuous hard graft by their back office staff, together with the expert guidance of someone who was not long ago helping us out with marketing strategy goes to show what can be achieved.
The same can be said of the marketing effort of the RFL for the Manly game. People got off their @rses and badgered pubs/clubs/papers/websites etc to push the game and we got 6,500 odd LOCAL types to watch that game.
I really am starting to tire of banging on, but really...what do the back office staff do? They have 14.5 working days between now and Castleford. 8 hrs a day is 116 hrs. If 115 hrs aren't spent marketing the game then something is very very very wrong.
9,975 fans needed......2,000 assured...so 68 fans an hour needed to get them.
1 phone call to BA......would you like 400 free tickets to the stoop for your staff? Yes! Good. All they will have to do is take part in an exit poll by email the week after the game. We will forward you the link to the poll and you can ask your staff to tell us what they thouhght of the day.
Thank you.
Pick up phone, dial Gillette.......
It isn't brain surgery, but the club do seem to think it is

| Glaxo Smithkline Beecham? About 10,000 emplyees there alone, assuming they haven't decamped to the peoples republic of low wages.
I'm with GF on this one just hand them out, another thread says mass clerout needed sadly I think that may relate yet again to season ticket holders.
Worst bit of managing expectations ever to say we were going to win the GF

I came to a deal ages ago with David Hughes, he stopped telling me how to spend my money, and in return I stop telling him how to spend his.

Its old hat. 2 years ago we gave everyone of them a bloody season ticket, moved the games to Sun and they still didn't turn up.
Players do not necessarily make supporters.

Suggesting...not telling. As the Club have done so well in the past attracting fans to games, I can see your point though Homer. I mean to say, you really need to get to the Stoop early to ensure you get a seat
If David Hughes wants to spend his money on chocolate Teaspoons it's his business, all I am doing is suggesting ways to attract fans for little or no cash outlay.
As for Rooster......no, I don't expect a reply. I am genuine in my concern for the future of the club and would be delighted if someone came up with a way of increasing crowds, but 4 years into the Harlequins Tie in, we are 20% down...........that's fans and gate revenue + residuals.
As for Wire-quin...I agree, it has been done before, but maybe it just needs tweaking rather than binning. 1,350 players with another 1,700 kids playing structured league.....why try and fail to convert people when there are already another group, with more people than our existing fan base? As I said, ask them what it was about the offer that didn't appeal? Was it maybe that they play on Saturday and wanted to spend time with their loved ones on a Sunday? I know when I played on Saturdays, Sunday was a family day.

Nope. My suggestions are there, in the public domain, but if the club don't use any of them they are not failing because they ignore me.....they are just failing.
How the club market the game is up to the club......it's just they haven't really excelled at it, have they?
As for the bit in Bold? You can and already have formed your own opinion about my attitude to the clubs marketing, so why ask?

So you won't go on about how useless they are then when they don't listen to you. As they are failing anyway.
My opinion is actually that on occasion, you offer the odd good suggestion. However you have then publicly berate the club because they simply haven't implemented what [iyou[/i think should happen. You often made the club look even worse as a result. People coming on here will read the negativity from yourself and it heightens their impression on things that we all know aren't great.
Now here is just a thought. Do you think the club would be more inviting to you and your knowledge had you not come on here and write what you do? I mean, you don't sell yourself well on here sometimes, and again, in my opinion, to a degree, with your knowledge, you could have been valuable. But who'd take you on after publicly slågging them off. In this case a potential "employer", so to speak that you were willing to help.
We all know their shortcomings, we all know what needs improving. Not all of us slåg them off as a means of getting there.

No, I will continue to go on about how useless they are until I see an improvement in attendance figures. Whislt they only count for 2 points in the Licence application, they are directly linked to the quality of player we can attract, whether it be wages or atmosphere......3,400 odd is unacceptable and 10 years of treading water is a disgrace.

When it comes to marketing, the club need no help from me to look bad. As for people reading my posts and me influencing they impression of the club....I think you are bigging me up just a tad there. I am a keyboard warrior and if any fan visited this site and suddenly stopped going to Quins because I am the Leonard Cohen of Marketing....I would worry for that person.

Now...as I have stated in previous posts, there have been occasions when I have communicated my willingness to assist the club. Your inference that I attack the club because I was knocked back for a job there, whilst fair to assume, is so far wide of the mark it should be posted on the other sports forum. For the record, long before I applied for a job at Quins I turned down an approach from the RFL (something I regret now). Hope that clears that up.....
I am a straight talker. I tell it as I see it and I don't believe in trying to put positive spin if their isn't any. I do not "slag" off the club by the way, I simply point out where I believe they are going wrong......
An example would be my many posts about the corporate/Commercial team............over a 2 year period..........and then it turns out....they sold 1 box. The salary paid to that particular person means that that 1 box was probably the most expensive corporate hospitality for 12 people that year.......that is failure!

When the club reads what you post against them on here. Do you really think they'd want you? Seriously? As for the inference. Got that completely wrong geezer. I didn't infer that. Stop making stuff up. Oh and it's not me that's bigging you up if you come on here telling us about turning down the approach from the RFL. Nor has anyone else on here told us that they earn 8,000 quid a month but would do it for free. People just do it. Why tell us that? Are you glory hunting or adulation seeking? This can be said of the thread you started about how the club sometimes listen. When you pointed out YOU suggested something to them in a letter a couple of years before it and then they did it.

Simply point out??? There are ways of simply pointing out. Sometimes it don't come across like that GF. A question. This one person. Was that their only job at Quins?
At the end of the day, everyone on here wants us to do well. Even Rupe in his own way. In the meantime bang away. But every now and then expect an anti-depressant that is one of us other posters.

| Quote ="Rooster Booster" A question. This one person. Was that their only job at Quins?'"
Nope...as I understand it, this person had the responsibility for targeting sponsors (club and matchday) as well as selling corporate hospitality.
Given we struggled to find someone to put on the front of our shirts apart from a restaurant group (in receivership) part owned by our backer and another of his companies on the back, I would qualify that as a resounding success as well The St Mary's deal was done by "other parties".
Negativity has its uses....but if you're of the opinion that we should let the club carry on as normal and swallow the rhetoric tossed out at the Fans Forum about "everything being OK" and "attendance not being a problem", then you're entitled to think that.
I on the other hand look at cold hard facts (where available) and the fact regarding attendances is that since 2000 we have broken the 4,000 mark once and our current average gate is the lowest since 2001.
I have also been told that David Hughes can spend his money as he sees fit and I shouldn't dare to try to advise him........very true.....it is his money and his club, so let's all hope he stays fit, healthy and interested, otherwise, we're bu99ered!
Again, the subject of my ego crops up. I have no qualms about declaring I am a cocky little sod...I also do earn shed loads of cash and consider myself very good at my job. I don't see what the problem is? Shrinking Violets work in the accounts department as far as I am concerned and maybe if the club showed a tiny percentage of the passion I do when they market the game, they might just turn the corner.
The nature of sales and promotion is to be overt, confident (arrogant) and passionate.......words you wouldn't associate with Harlequins Rugby League marketing (or London Broncos before them).
Lastly, I repeat that anyone who comes on these boards and is affected by my constant negativity to the extent where, rather than forming an opinion about me or the club, decides that they will stop supporting the club has problems....serious problems.

| Some reasons the kids (playing scheme) was seen to fail was sometimes match times but also lack of access to the club. With regard access, kids were given season tickets but the problem is how to get to the game i.e. parents are often required for transport. I know plenty of kids who would love to see QRL but did not have parental support/desire to watch the professional game and could not get to a game. Either the kids are too young or too far away from the Stoop to use public transport.
Rather than a failure the scheme should be tried again and could be tweaked with the odd free/reduced ticket to entice a parent to make the effort to get to a game. For every young season ticket holder there is a least one parent and sometimes two which are the ones you need to target. Kids are already converted - they are playing the game.
You only have to see what happens when the community team have events at the Stoop to see proof of the potential. But even here QRL have shot themselves in the foot and demanded that parents who have brought their kids to events on the college pitch to be told you have to pay full price to watch your kids in the final which is to be (now) played on the main pitch (no prior warning given). Believe me this happened last year and lost a lot of good will and support.

I (YES...ME Rooster Booster...ME ME ME ME ME!) have suggested to the club that all 1,700 kids get a free ticket and the parent/guardian gets a ST for £50-£60.......
Also, I would think that a kind of "Kid Pool" system would be good. 1 Parent looks after 4 Kids one week, the following home game, a different parent...etc...... That would mean that 1 cheap "guardian" season ticket could be shared between 4?
This would need to be suggested to the coaches of these teams and marketed NOW....not in March next year

Thanks for that
Anyway, back on topic. 9,975....how to get them?
1,600 Amateur Players
1,700 youth players with guardian possibly 3,400 (may be hard getting hold of them as it's school holidays.
These 2 alone with a 10% uptake would give us 500.
Free entry to all TW2 residents on production of a utility bill/proof of address. .
Free entry offer run in the local rag (a la Hull FC this week)
Place an offer in the programme of the Charlton Athletic v Brentford game on Saturday 6th....? Free entry to anyone wearing a Brentford or Charlton jersey.....
You will notice the liberal use of the word FREE here........let's face it, we aren't going to [usell [/umany for this game.
Data collection is key to these offers and this data must be used to encourage people back for game 1 next year.
