Evening all. Just having a think about next season (early days I know) but I'm fairly sure that we all agree that Brett is hanging up his boots at the end of this season. Great player he has been for us too. Who will come in to replace him and take the number 1 jersey for next year though? Do we look to Stef, who I would have thought is Briers long term replacement, or Riley who has played FB often for us in the past. Or do we look to being someone in? As much as I would like to see Billy Whizz is the P&B I can't see it!! Any thoughts?

Didn't we sign Ben Hellewell from Leeds ( i think ?) who is supposed to be a natural talent at full back ?

No need for mega bucks, stick with the kids !

I am sure Ratchford could do the job but I am not sure he is a natural in that position, he looks more like a Briers.

Just to change the topic slightly, we do have some great youngsters coming through ( Rhys Evans as well) but does anybody think that there is a bit of a gap in age / experience developing ? We have quite a number of senior players who will leave very soon but the youngsters could need 2-3 years yet to develop further and gain experience at the top level before they can "fill their boots".

I just don't see Ratchford as our fullback,as good as he is at standing in for the injuried Hodgson.I just dont see his long term future at fullback.

That's some prospect. Looking forward to seeing more of the young lad Currie. Also, as mentioned above we also have more young talent in the shape of Ben Halliwell. Exciting times, ISWT

You have to remember that some of the older players are also the bigger earners. I don't think there's a gap appearing at all. We have players like Bridge, Atkins and Riley, all of whom have plenty of time left at the top. In the pack Mike Cooper, Ben Harrison and Simon Grix are well established, whilst Carvell, Wood and Westwood have at least a couple of years left of top class football.

Yes I suppose we do have a strong spine through the team. What about a couple of big strong props though, age 25-26. Forwards always seem to take a long time to mature into the job and there might be a gap here. Carvell seems to be on the wane and I don't think he will be around at Morleys age.

Hodgson's link up play today was world class. There is no replacement in this country that has the same ability.

and the widge that gave Chris Bridge man of the match must have been out of the hospitality suite every time Hodgson had the ball in his hand...

Hodgy stated recently that he has no intention of retiring and is looking for another contract at Warrington.
