| From the BBC websitebitter and hard lessons, but we needed to be better. We'll rue a few chances that we put down and we'll rue a few defensive lapses.
"I thought both teams were inviting the other to take a hold of the game and neither did. We weren't sharp enough to get away like we normally do. We did some good things to get out to those leads but we needed to be the next to score and we didn't manage to do that."
I've highlighted the most telling bit for me. Hopefully this defeat will make us stronger next year

| He is a great coach and appears to be a top bloke. Not really sure what wire could have done any differently to win last nights game so I hope Smith isn't beating himself up about it.

| Hang on to him as long as you can. The guy is class in every respect. I loved the way he waited patiently at the side of the pitch while Sinny did the SKY interview just so he could shake his hand. A mutual respect they both thoroughly deserve. You'll be back!

He is class, I was really impressed that he shook hands with not only his players but made the effort to speak to our lads too. And was a nice touch waiting for sinny. TBF mac also did the same.
Good manager,

| Tony Smith is a credit to the game. Get's his teams playing the right way and is the best coach the Superleague era has seen.

| Tony smith once said to me at a rhinos event that 3/4 years is long enough at any club as the players new a new voice to hear, as the caoch become ineffective, so whether he will look at a new longer term contract im not so sure, he only stayed at the rhinos for 4 seasons

| Mr Smith is not only a great coach but more importantly he's a very decent bloke and for that I hope we keep onto him for as much as possible !
His influence will last for years after he's gone. Last night was evidence of that!

| I think Smith will want to win a GF with Warrington before he goes.
|
|
|
| I found his comments about the fact Warrington have not been involved in many tight games this season quite intriguing. Wire have been in 4 'tight' games this season, and have lost 3 of them.

But he left a squad that isn't that unrecognisable to now at Leeds. Leeds' main/core players were there then and are still there now. If Smith leaves Wire now - within two years Hodgson Briers Morley Carvell and the Monaghans will all be retiring - he wouldn't be leaving a settled squad set-up for future success (after TS left Leeds have reached a final in every year, whether it be the GF or CC!).
I think he has a big job to do at Wire over the next three years. It will be a time where we will see if we'll sustain a 'top club' status or dip down the table. I'm also certain he will want to win a GF with Wire before moving on.
I also think TS left Leeds two/three years too soon.
