With three Catalan players testing positive the current position is that we must stand down two of our players for the game Sunday. This would appear to be contra to the usual position where the opposition is stood down for two weeks like Salford.
We at Wakefield have been a little unlucky because we played Wigan with Hastings in the team despite him breaking the virus protocols.

Following the Hull / Salford game, after which a number of Hull FC players tested positive, there was no spread to Salford - so, based on a sample set of 1, there is no evidence that there is a high risk of team to team infection. The risk of infection within a team though seems relatively high.

This doesn't help Wakefield who will be two players down and will have had their preperations disrupted. This is not good for Wakefield and not good for RL.

Can’t see anything other than a Wire win and convincing at that.

Hopefully Kaye and Gigot are back but it’s going to be tough ask.

I could see Wakefield turning us over to be honest, got battered so will be out for revenge and we usually get very complacent against so called lower teams. And it doesn't say who has tested positive so could be fringe players. We'll see on Sunday i suppose

On paper it should be a walk over for us, but this is the Wire we are talking about and we do seem to find a way to beggar these things up.

Seems harsh on Trinity with the Catalan V Wigan being called off. The strangest of times in many, many ways.

It’s become a nothing season for us. At least you guys have the league to aim for.

We have now lost a third player, at this rate Chester will be playing.

You have to feel for the Trinity faithful. To all intents and purposes their season is finished. No realistic chance of reaching the top four, out of the Challenge Cup and not even the prospect of a relegation battle to add interest. On top of this they now have to field a weakened team through no fault of their own.

Better luck next season. At least a chance to give the youngsters a shot and maybe try a few things.

Wakey started well but they were never going to keep that up for a full half with so many absentees a couple of early scores this half and big minutes for the bench should be our aim put it to bed Wire

We don't kill teams enough for me. Spent the 2nd half defending against a weak and poor Wakefield side. This should be 60+ tonight

Absolutely terrible. And, having seen plenty of the other games this weekend, that goes for most of the league in general.

Defences awful, handling poor. The Australians must laugh at how bad the standard of our competition is.

Out of curiosity, and be honest, how many games do people think this Wire side would win in a regular NRL season?... personally, I think we would win 2/3 games at best.

The most depressing part of that match tonight was that couple bottom right of the fans, think they were watching old episodes of Emmerdale or Antiques roadshow.

Agreed, but this isn’t our premier sporting competition like the Australians, , do kids really want to be rugby league players growing up? The answer is no, football is and always will be in this country.

And there's me thinking what an entertaining game it was apart from several unforced handling mistakes. Wakefield , even with injuries , were determined to put the effort in & make us work for the win.

I'm with you Archie mind you I watched it in a pub well earned beer in hand and in good company, four Salford fans who were happy to chat RL I don't understand the amount of negativity TBH and I get we might not win many NRL games whatever that's got to do with it

DSM not sure what the point of comparing our competition to the NRL would be. Different salary cap, different playing pools etc.
It sounds like you have fallen out of love with the game as much as anything else.
I enjoyed the match for the most part, yes we made some mistakes but the willingness to throw the ball around was encouraging.

Job done....and bet we still can’t make from page on the trades.

Come on, that was much better. The attacking structure was vastly improved and the defence was on point albeit against an under strength Wakey team.

I enjoyed it, some good tries, especially from Austin.

Any NRL comparisons are crazy given the salary cap difference.
