| Unlucky today Wire, I was looking forward to seeing you lot kick Wigan at Wembley.
Hope you use this as a stepping stone to win Super League, good luck from the Swinton fans.

| I agree to all of this. Gutted we lost today but we were poor in comparison to recent weeks - too much dropped ball, attack wasn't fluent and seemed to lack spark. We started well but fell away after the kick interception try. Frustrating to lose based on a below par performance but good luck to Hull, they were efficient and fully deserved their win. Their defense was bruising at times. I really hope they go on and win it (and that is not just because they are playing Wigan) and kick-on to be a top Super League contender next year. The more top clubs competing at the top end of the division the better and Hull really should be there. Arguably our Challenge Cup win in 2009 was the catalyst for success so maybe Hull can approach it in the same way.
Having said all of that....we've won the cup three times in four years....it is now time to move on and aim for the Grand Final. Doing the double seems difficult for all concerned given the need to peek twice in such a short space of time so lets go for this now in a big way. Finishing top is also do-able. Mission Old Trafford!

| Thats strange. All of a sudden finishing top would be an achievement. And there was me reading that it meant nothing and was meaningless whenever Wigan finish top. Hypocrites.

Well lets hope all those Wigan fans that have been saying "the cup isn't important any more" don't get too excited about winning at Wembley.
It's the mickey mouse trophy of rugby league these days which is why the attendances are so poor. The fans just don't rate it as a competition any more.

Strange how for so long something that had not much relevance when the Pies won it, the hubcap, now seems to be a great achievement and a sign of the true champions. I for one always thought it was anyway. Wire now have a chance to finish top, and should. I think the Wigan Hudds game should more or less be the decider for all the main contenders. On yesterday’s game, a bit of a slow starter, but it soon heated up into a cracker. To give away too many penalties will always end up biting you on the a*se, and almost did for Hull at the death. After the shambles on Saturday (not Wigan’s fault) Sunday was a great advert for the game as they say.

Yes and it showed yesterday on the faces of the weary wire fans. We all know the GF is the be all and end all, and it’s the real big money spinner, isn’t it? The trouble with wire is that they are a well-coached and very aggressive unit, but in the end only an average team.

You haven't read the numerous threads we've had on here where we've said that the league leaders should be held in higher standing and gain bigger prize money than they currently do have you? It's been said for a few years now by us. I think you just wanted to get any old dig in didn't you? So chose that one.

| Seems along with being sore losers, the Wigan fans seem to be sore winners too. Wasn't going to bother supporting a team in the final, but after listening to some of the vitriolic bile spewing from these arrogant t***s in the WN postcode, I'm giving my support to Hull FC.

Why? Are you wanting to listen to the answer and then rush right back to the cherryandwhite.co.uk chat thread and report back what has been said? "Mum, mum.....the nasty Warrington fans have been saying this, and saying that.....quick, I need some support and some back up. Please help me, as I don't want to be the only one that is insulting them".
Jeez kidda, you really need to grow up.

| I couldn't make yesterday's game due to work but reading the threads it's clear that we had an off day and Hull pounced and tbh I think all us wire fans were always wary that Hull could beat us and so was the case
So now it's time to brush down , focus and win the remaining SL games , do this and we finish 2nd at least
We have a great chance of an Old Trafford appearance again , so lets not critique the guys on the field lets get behind them no matter what .I can assure you the players are hurting more than any fan .
Onwards and upwards you lot , a big job has still to be done ...........COTW !!!!

That is exactly what Pie fans said about it when we won it. The unenlightened few who hold to that idea here just copied it off your lot.

As far as i know i don't know any Wigan fans that don't value any of the 3 domestic pieces of silverware on offer. Personally. I think the Challenge Cup is the main one. The most prestigious. Followed by the LLS and then the Grand final - Which is only there for Sky's benefit. Not many folk over 40 think the Grand Final is worth anything. It's just Sky TV's trophy.

| I don't buy into all this malarkey about getting knocked out of the cup making the play offs easier. In 2011 we went out in the CCQF, only to lose to Leeds in the play off preliminary final. Last year ourselves and Leeds contested both cup and league final.
Still lots of work to do and I certainly wouldn't be talking about relaxing or any such nonsense.

| I'm with Ganson's optician on this. Come the final 4 in the playoffs without sounding too obvious it's 80 mins of knock out rugby. Now no team goes out to get beat but I can't see the difference in us getting beat by Widnes on Easter Monday to a Play off game. We and any other team can be beaten at any point. We need to be on top of our game and have a little bit of Lady Luck regarding the bounce of the ball, the 50-50 calls etc. I just hope we get back to winning ways on Sunday and we shake that defeat out of our heads.

That's my order of importence exactly as well. I have never allowed myself to be branwashed by Sky and have always called the Grand Final, The Mickey Mouse Cup since year 1 of Super League and will never change my mind on this. I am also slightly over forty and was a life member of the club before they took it off me when we moved to the HJ.

| We've done quite well for an avaerage team.
2009 CC Winners.
2010 CC Winners.
2011 LLS Winners.
2012 CC Winners.
We've also beaten a so called superior team on a regular basis for the past 6-7 years. we can't be that bad.

You call me ill-mannered and then proceed to call me an imbecile, which makes you a hypocrite! Your contention that Warrington beat Wigan without too much trouble is at the least an exaggeration, and in relation to most recent games I contend is inaccurate. My references to Warrington being a well-coached but only an average side was, if you had read more post on these boards first before jumping to incorrect conclusions, you could have guessed that this was my tongue in cheek parody to what others had said about Wigan. You ask me to read the posts on here to see how much camaraderie and good will exists between supporters of Warrington and Hull, I have and though I’m sure some are sincerely meant, and are welcome, I would ask you to read a few more and see that quite a lot are not as you would call brotherly. To finish I think YOU should take your own ill-informed advice you gave me in the last lines of your post. (I have made one change to the lines for reasons of accuracy)
