The Castleford cheerleaders were fantastic, and I have to say I really enjoyed it.

I don't remember seeing any Wire cheerleaders when I sat in the old wooden stand at Wilderspool with my dad, but perhaps the pillars were in the way ? Or come to think of it, he did tend to send me to the bar to get him a beer just before kick off.

Only when they drop one of them. I don't watch any of the pre-match/half dancing rubbish. Choreographed dancing is one of my pet hates.

I'm not a massive fan of cheerleaders as I don't think any of us need someone telling us to cheer when we score.

However I think ours need looking at as its makes us a laughing stock and its cringe worthy watching girls dance way out of time looking tangoed.

Why can't we have a professional outfit who can dance well AND look fit. Stick some lads in there for the girls as well. If we want to be fair to both sexes I don't mind, I know what I'll be looking at. When we see other teams with good looking cheerleaders who can dance well, I think we've all thought 'why can't we have them?'

Better still, hire the Gillette fusion dancers from the four nations final... they were something else.

isn't that a similar purpose to what you use the drum for? It starts a chant, thus encouraging people to cheer/chant?

I don't use any kind of drum, I just don't mind them.

That's a fair argument I suppose. Though we don't need drums to make us cheer when we score do we? The cheerleaders only dance (I use that term loosely) when we score.

They're not school kids, well, from what i know (parent of one of said dancers) its around 17 and upwards.


What are we going to complain about next? the kids games at half time and pre match, we dont want to see kids, i want to see another SL game played pre match and half time, by adults.

And not only adults, i want it played by the shiniest looking males possible.

A fashion show at half time would be good.

So you want a few Norah Batty types flashing their tassels ? I think it would need a huge marketing spend to get that idea off the ground. Plus we would need more St Johns ambulance people.
