| The problem is Groupon take 50% of the deal money meaning Sale or Salford would be left with very little.
People will happily pay £15 for 2 tickets but when its back to full price, will people still come? It will be interesting to see how many Sale sell via Groupon.
I've just bought 4 tickets as its a cheap Friday night out with the kids. My boy plays union so he'll be happy.
So far they have sold 48 which will bring a grand total of 96 people through the gates and a revenue of £360.

| 7,479 to watch the fortnightly kicking contest at our ground tonight (though we all know how accurate those figures are ). This was their first league game at our home, on their preferred Friday night.
They've amassed a total of 3 tries in their 4 games so far this season (2 in 2 at our home), though had I been at all interested in attending I would have witnessed 9 successful kicks at goal from my seat in the West stand, ever so reasonably priced at £45

| I went on Friday as I got cheap tickets via Groupon. Have to say, I'm not sure if I would go again!!! The game was OK in parts but generally quite boring. I know people have said the game has got more exciting and not as much emphasis on kick and clap, but it must have been really boring before!!!
The South and North Stands were pretty full, east was 3/4 full and West was almost empty (ticket prices probably have something to do with this!!!).
Good sound coming from the South Stand and they had a drummer! Shows with enough people, an atmosphere can be created!
Attendance figure was probably about right. Loads of people milling around before kick off and the bar was doing a roaring trade!
Overall a cheap night out, but can't wait until we start again in Jan!
Also, getting away from the car park was worse than I've ever seen it! They almost cleared the car park on the right as you drive up before letting the main car park move. Shocking!

4 tries scored in 400 minutes of 'rugby' - and yet they'll probably have more watching them next week than we got in most games last season...

| From the Observer match report for Sale's last game,
"Andy Powell invited the sanction after felling Dominic Day with a high challenge that left the second-row wondering what day he was.
Powell departed by flicking a V-sign to the home supporters in the main stand. Some were still awake; although a contest between the two lowest try scorers in the Premiership at the start of play had produced four tries, only one contained an element of creativity. Neither line was threatened in an abject opening that was a waste of the late September sunshine and so slow was the phase possession won by both sides that the chip ahead became the favoured tactic."
says it all really about the other rugby

| Bit sad to see all this hostility so early on. I know I'm doing myself no favours here by posting but it is a shame.
As for the person who's rolling their eyes at us coaching at schools in Salford - you really can't win there, can you?
If 5 years down the line we did nothing in the eyes of Salford fans we'd be accused of playing in the ground, trying to take your fans and doing nothing for the area.
If we're trying to get active in the area, then we'll be accused of trying to brainwash your kids into becoming Union fans.
One of the things we got slated for at Edgeley Park was apparently putting no investment into the stadium or trying to get the locals involved.

Nonsense. If you haven't noticed, Salford fans don't want to share the stadium we put so much effort into with anyone, yet alone a Union club. We'd be quite happy for you to stick to Sale and Cheshire for your community work.
As for "apparently" putting no investment into Edgeley Park, ha. There's a reason the ground's gone to rack and ruin.

| GT...Please explain where you get that your club put much time and effort into getting that stadium.
Fact is your club failed and the stadium was only built when a joint venture between Salford Council and Peel Holdings came to the rescue.
At that point Salford City Reds lost all rights to dictate anything about how the ground is used nor for that matter who uses it.
Indeed Sale have done Salford a big favour in coming to play there since it has allowed your club a sizeable rent reduction, perhaps therefore a little more cordiallity wouldn't go a miss.

I agree on the last sentence, but are you taking the p*ss with the rest? You obviously missed everything that went on prior to RCD going belly up.
Quote ="Marshy1"Indeed Sale have done Salford a big favour in coming to play there since it has allowed your club a sizeable rent reduction'"
That's hardly Sale doing us a favour, any other side coming in would have been a good case for us getting our rent reduced. I believe there were also a lot of people on the sidelines fighting our corner in order for a rental reduction to be agreed, even after Sale came in.
Quote ="Marshy1"perhaps therefore a little more cordiallity wouldn't go a miss.'"
Not a chance. Anyway, I was trawling for info on Agecroft the other day after reading about the recent meeting on Twitter. Looking through threads on Swinton's TotalRL forum I came across this nugget from yourself on a thread about us playing at the LSV:
Quote Fantastic news. just confirms who is the puppet master now down at the City of Salford Stadium.'"
No wonder you want "cordiallity" towards Sale seeing as you enjoyed seeing us get shafted over that episode.

The only reason you are 'getting involved' in Salford is to ensure you stay in the councils good books in regards to future priority use of stadium. Sale are now aiming to be a north west super club meaning you have the whole north west are to 'get involved' in schools etc, whereas our main catchment area is mainly Salford/Manchester. Would have more time for Sale if they stuck to coaching the Cheshire parrotheads rugger leaving the Salford area to us.
