Soward was mentioned at FR last night if I heard the big man correctly. We also made an enquiry about Ben Barba according to Farish.

Oh stop it Martin, you're just teasing me now.
Just to add, Soward fell out of favour a tad last season in what was the post-Wayne Bennett era at St George. He got dropped a couple of times due to poor form. However, he's still a fantastic, free-running stand off who would tear relatively slow defenses to pieces over here.
Todd Carney, a bit hot at the moment. As a likely state of origin player for the foreseeable future, it's unlikely he'll leave Cronulla.

| Barba - No chance, he'll take his time to sort his problems out and be back withb the dogs.
Carney - Unlikely, Cronulla want to keep him, a couple of clubs also interested in the NRL
Soward - Good chance, OOC, was looking to come over to SL last year, would be a good SL HB, but he's a wan ker

How about Ed Farish as CEO (Former finance director for Australia NRL, and CFO of Gold Coast Titans), Graham Lowe as Director (Prolific club coach both in UK and Australia, and SOO coach / club administrator) and Andrew Chalmers as Director (Former Chairman of NZ Rugby League). Not a bad head table, really: I think these will have the clout to bring a few top-class players in, as the respect they have in the game is strong.

This is what most people are missing, and is the most impressive thing that Koukash has done. He's been brilliant at keeping us in the press with his plans, but the fact is that he has made the key appointments at a director level to hopefully move us forward. Fans can laugh at our deisre to buy big names, but the appointments that he has made cannot be faulted.

We could put them out on loan to Warrington, they seem to have a bit of a fetish for our halfbacks.

Theo is on a long term contract and is seen as a future Star. The Club have done well with bringing him on and I think they see him as our long term man in the middle. He's only young and has time on his side. As for Sneyd. I'm not sure.

| Quote ="TheButcher"Some serious names being thrown around atm.
Soward is OOC at the end of the year and his agent has apparently been touting him around SL Clubs. Think he was linked to Wigan last year. Carney is another troubled sort who might fancy a change of scenery. Who knows.
As for Hanson, he grew up inside the Willows and would be a cracking signing.
Seems like every man and his dog is being linked to us. Exciting stuff.'"
It's a different ball game to what we have been accustomed to , this quote from Lowe is quite telling , and anyone at the FR meeting last night listening to Ed Farish would have left knowing they are deadly serious of carrying out whatever steps are neccessary , on the pitch and off it to make Koukash's vision a reality.
Quote Lowe- "We've got to protect Salford's history, but we've also got to lift our own expectations and be a club that's actively trying to recruit the very best players we can possibly get." '"

He wants a competitive team asap and he wants to develop & attract better academy players for the future.
but first & foremost a team capbable of winning regular games is what's needed
the question of our younger players were discussed at the FR meeting last night and it's clear they do see them as our future , but also want to protect them from extended game time until they physically develop .

| Spot on MM.
Just look at what happened to Theo on his first Start. We need to build a competitive side and that means the best players get pushed by hungry talented youngsters who eventually earn and inherit the mantle.
There's no secret formula and it's a balancing act, but top sides have depth, something we desperately need to address. If the kids are good enough, they'll shine when they get their opportunity, and hopefully it wont go unnoticed.

I think it should be acknowledged how well the youngsters have done so far in 2013.
Home match v.Wigan Mom. Theo
Home match v.Hull KR Mom.Marc Sneyd
2 away games - 1 try in each Niall Evalds.
I don't think any of them would have been told they had a fixed number of games in which to impress so despite the psychological pressure since 2012 and the threat to their careers they have remained loyal, mentally strong and despite huge pressure on their shoulders, have put in that standard of performance.
Impetuosity of youth perhaps being beneficial and they themselves, the coaching staff and everyone else who has assisted them deserve huge credit.
Now what is happening ? We have heard from Warrington - Morley.Wigan - Tomkins.
What is the news from Saints or Widnes ?

| It is great that Salford future is assured it I am looking forward to seeing what the Dr. can do with your team. I watched your win against HKR and one thing concerns me about this.
He seemed to be different from other Chairmen and stood more or less in the dug out towards the end and then going onto the field after the match. I can't recall many chairmen doing this.
Then there is an article with him telling the team to ship up or ship out. He pays his money and how he does things is his own business. But do any of the Salfords fans feel he is getting too involved? Speaking to the team to motivate performance is down to the coach not the chairman.
As I say great that someone with money is showing an interest and investing in one of the clubs in SL. Even though I don't support Salford it is good for the game with loads of press and interest.

You can't deny his results in business and Racing, and he seems to be a man who goes all or nothing when he decides he's going to do something.

| Tbh I'm just enjoying us being linked with these players. How long has it been sinced we've ruffled the big boys' feathers? 40 years? How long have we been saying we're an easy touch, a stop gap, a retirement home? Now all of a sudden we're laying down 500k bids for the best British player in the game? Fucking great stuff!
Hands on or not, the very fact that we have an owner who isn't afraid to take on the establishment is exciting enough as it is. It's been way too long, but finally Salford fans have a reason to shout.

| He's has an interesting approach, although he will have to be careful, otherwise he may get his wrists slapped if someone starts to claim tapping up before the deadline.
In the end if he wants a big name to sign he may end up going for an aussie, who is due to retire but is prepared to give it one last season.
I don't think Salford would really want Morley and no one in SL is going to be able to offer Tomkins more than the NRL.
Roby is contracted for a few years yet.
But looking outside of the box, how about a return for Scott Moore to SL, a quality hooker, if a bit on the wild side??

Steady improvement, steady purchasing, its the same thing - You can't have one without the other.
Yes, Wire did it, Widnes and Hull are doing it, Salford are going to be doing it, only in a slightly more hurried manner....Like I said though, the problem you will find is that when the Doctor eventually collars a big name signing, he's going to be paying him a salary that will make Matt King's supposed big money deal look like pocket money - He'll then be left with peanuts to spread out among the rest of the squad.
I admire the ambition you are showing - Anything that makes the league more competitive can only be a good thing, but you get the impression that your new owner wants to be an Abramovich figure who wants a sudden overnight fix. Unfortunately, in a salary capped sport like RL, that's nigh on impossible.
If you need a decent accountant though, I hear Simon Moran has employed a belter in recent years....

You're right, but we've probably got around million pound spare on next years salary cap. I can't imagine we're currently spending more than million on players wages, with Nero's and Wild's combined wages probably equal to 200,000 or more. The maths isn't hard. We've got room for true superstar and few high quality players, in addition to the existing squad.
