| For the first time in years this season we have had the likes of Leeds etc resting players the game before they play Salford. All the big clubs have wanted to do a job on us to put us in our place after all the gobbing off in pre season about top 4 etc, whereas usually we could rely on the off chance of a couple of them playing a weakened side and getting a result. Anywhere between 7th and 12th was always on the cards, and sadly we are at the lower end of it.
Whilst the players ultimately have to carry the can, plenty of the off field nonsense this year has done them no favours.
I have no idea what we hope to gain from this latest stunt. Anyone?

| Really disappointed in his decision and he wouldn't be advising this on his management training courses.
Tell Theo,or HH,that they're not worthy ?
Crass in the extreme but a good way to mask poor ticket sales, perhaps.

The club have decided to cancel this year's player of the year award and focus our energy on the next 2 games and building for next year"
mmm - motivational or knee jerk?'"
I am a big fan of our chairman but in this case he has I feel overstepped the mark.
Firstly nothing as yet on the club website, why?
Secondly as we have purchased tickets for the player of the year, two adults and one junior I expect the club to reimburse us as soon as possible without any hitches.
Thirdly the player of the year awards are as the title itself says for the performances over the season and not a couple of matches and several players deserve better than this.
I actually had cancelled a previous engagement to fit the Player of the year awards in and I thought that is was only Sky TV who were messing us about.
Finally this action,if true, has brought the club into line with the RFL & Superleague as we are continually told that the are hopeless organisers where does this knee jerk response put us?

| Dr K apparently tweeted-
"I am sure the players by now have realised that they owe the fans ,who travelled to watch them play today, an apology,"
Apparently the fans / sponsors supporting the awards dinner are owed nothing by Koukash. An arrogant and cheap way to treat supporters.
how many times has this guy done a post game rant berating players and saying he will tolerate it no longer? (5 or 6 in 2 seasons?)

| This public berating of the squad is pathetic. At first it genuinely was "refreshing" to hear a Chairman come out and say what the rest of us were thinking, but now I feel it only serves to keep our sizeable mong element worshipping him.
If we're not getting the results he wants then there are ways to manage that business behind closed doors that are more effective. I think the fact he is still producing these stupid outbursts is demonstrative of a very weak off-field management team.

I agree with you - as I usually do and it is a pity you are not one of the advisory board panel.
Trying to attract a decent attendance to the next 2 home games is more important - particularly when reading the Dr's article in this weeks RLE and the problems/cost for the stadium.
SRD lost on Sunday to a side higher than them in the league.Leeds lost to London, recently and Wigan lost to Bradford - both lower in the league than even SRD.
For the Harris critics how about viewing the win/loss ratio of Wigan since Harris left there, and how about remembering Harris managed to get SRD away from relegation and within less time than Noble had here, who managed the wooden spoon and a hefty remuneration, only.
The majority of the players managed to under-achieve on the opening game of the season in the second half, against Wakefield. Most were Noble signings and this was after a 16 days team-bonding session in South Africa.Harris ain't had that opportunity.

| Full agreement for all the above.
As to the question posed to me, one of Morley, Sau, Hock (despite odd brain f@rts , he has been much more disciplined than I expected), Chase, or Fages. All different, all crucial in any success we attracted.

Good that Noble is still in your thoughts.
I actually agree that Harris has done a good job and, whilst I thought Nobby was hard done by,I was wrong.
There has been a massive over reaction to the Wakefield result, led by MK pandering to a section of the fans.
Before Lou Kate lets on, I wasn't at the Wakefield game so I can't judge just how bad it was apart from via Jack Dearden.
We'd been doing well. I was at Huddersfield and we were tremendous

| Evalds, Sa'u, Theo, HH have all been very good for me this season.
Very odd move by the Doc this one, if an apology is required from the players the awards night might just have been the right time for them to make it.

When did this happen? As we were 8th when Harris took over, and now sit in 12th. The way people go on sometimes you would think Harris had bought Hemel Stags into the top flight.
Despite this, I would agree that in general we have seen improvements under Harris. However I would suggest Wakefield have seen a bigger scale of improvement since Webster took over, without having the luxury of bringing in the likes of Locke and Caton Brown.
87 points conceded in the last 2 away games of the season will hopefully be out of the system by the time next season comes round.

| It was a disappointing result but the reaction from the Doc is bordering on childish.
The comments about days off etc would be better served being voiced in private to Iestyn Harris as opposed to publically undermining him.
As for comments about lack of ticket sales, 200 in hospitality and an additional 150 non diners who I assume have bought tickets specifically for the event.
By normal match day standards that's above average, especially as none of them will be from London.
A month of planning, nine guests in hospitality and its cancelled on a whim, its fair to say I'm a tad unimpressed as is the business I represent.

| Public criticism of players in public media strikes me as being highly unprofessional. We were all disappointed by such a heavy loss, but to place the cause purely on the players on the field is misguided.
The "team" particularly with such an outspoken, emotional Chairman, starts with that Chairman. It includes the CEO, the Head Coach, his assistants, conditioners and then the players. To exclude those influential people above the players and lay the blame solely on them is equally misguided and, frankly, naive.
Each of those parties bears a responsibility and until each of them can see where they contributed to that failure, we will not make progress.
Many years ago, we had a bronze sign in the business in which I worked. It said "The floggings will continue until morale improves."
From where I'm sat, that seems to be the SRD motto.
At some point in time, one or more of the players will, I am sure, echo that view, but at this moment, won't express it, publicly or in-house, for fear of their own livelihood.
While I have the greatest admiration for the Chairman and his contribution to both the club and the game, the club seems to be run as an autocracy, which may have worked in MK's business, but can't possibly work in a sports environment.

| I have a great deal of respect for the Doc for what he has done for Salford and wants to do for the game as a whole. But that said saw him on Rugby AM last night and while he spoke a lot of sense his idea of having an ex player run the RFL is one of the problems RL (and to a degree sport in this country) has, it will always be a jobs for the boys type scenario when this happens.
Bring in someone to run the RFL as a business, I bet a proper chief exec wouldn't have missed the golden opportunity the world cup of 2013 afforded the game rather than letting it slip quietly out of the general public's mind set.
We have a wonderful sport that basically passes the vast majority of the UK public by.

We had purchased three tickets, went the to the stadium and got my refund yesterday.
We have also renewed our season tickets for 2015.
According to another poster there were 250 hospitality and 100 non dining tickets sold and if
that was the case there would have been good atmosphere and in line with the event when it was free.
I know several regular supporters who are not on social media who are really cheesed off with the announcements being made as they are.

| Praise be the Dr for saving us from extinction.
But I feel he is a big problem, for the moral of the players and coaches, venting your anger in public like he does( there are ways and means of doing it correctly) Backing and supporting your players, especially as he signed them, would be more beneficial to create a happy team.
He is making playing for Salford just earn the big bucks
He needs to do what other chairmen do, keep out of the press, shut up and leave running the team to the coaches he employed to do the job
Spitting your dummy out of the pram achieves nothing

| Whether we like it or not, I can't see him changing his nature. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he will do what he feels is right. Whether it is right is debatable but we'll just have to bite the bullet on this. Personally, I like the fact that he's passionate about the Club and sport and wants to do the very best he can. I'm sure some of his methods need a rethink however, as they are definitely not what is required for a stable ship. He needs to keep his passion but strengthen the core of the Club rather than give it a shake and see what falls off.
It's his toy to play with so we'll have to go along with it.

| I took at look at the Euromatech facebook page - here's a quote from it:
"When things don't go as planned, you have to have the courage to look in the mirror and face what you see.
Leadership is all about balance"
Good advice I'd say

| Butcher, how much I want to agree with you.
However, as we both know from VT, the critics are lapping this up. I'm sure the people he has upset at RL Towers are taking this on to use when needed. And if we are not careful with the cap or with non-Fed players (or even in disciplinary meetings), it will be used.
Also, as some posters have referenced, there would have been more than fans at this evening. There would have been business links. A serious blow to networking that the marketing department will find hard to overcome.
I think he's a genuinely nice guy who has been hurt by Sunday: hurt more than me as I have not lost ... over a million? this year. I think he's a fan and an owner and so feels more links to us than other owners. I was hurt and angry after Sunday. But I'll be there on Sunday next with hope in my heart. After all, I was born there.
