| Quote ="vastman"There are loan signings then there are LOAN signings.
In Smith case he's a LOAN signing in that he has rejoined a club he never wanted to leave and the only one he's ever been really happy at from a club he just didn't fit into - a LOAN in name only.
I very much see Owen as a Wakey lad who started well at Cas then lost his way - these are players Wakefield have a real reputation for resurrecting the careers of these types of players.
Gilmour a gap filler.
Riley, I'd like to keep him tbh.
So they may be loans but they are proving their value which is all you can ask for.'"
Fair comment-- the underlying issue I was alluding to was the contrast between the success of your loan policy and decisions and the Bulls. The only real successes at Odsal were the 2 props from the Giants who lasted a month - one recalled the other did not want to stay.
We lost 3 key players at the start of the season, 2 of whom are now out on loan to other clubs. We have 2 Leeds youngsters ,one of whom has still not seen first team action. We had Bridge ( now with Fev) and Sutcliffe recalled by Leeds.

| Phew, I was a bit anxious before the game that we might not be able to donate our regulation half century to the opposition, what with a new coach an all. I'd sort of miss the feelings of embarrassment and humiliation.
I needn't have worried, though. We came out with no intention of putting in a shift, and as normal were beaten after 15 minutes. It was only when Wire decided to ease off that the blood stopped flowing.
We let them do what they liked. They were obviously told to come out second half and step it up for a few tries to make the game safe, and then relax, which is what they did.
Effort? Yes, a poor effort. No change there then. Fifty points a week. They should all offer to resign.

| Normally after a match there are quiet a few comments on the board about the game. But today apart from a few skirmishes in the long running war with Wakey hardly a whisper today.
Now this might be lack of effort from members of RAB - but more likely continued capitulations on the field and lack of any squad news or developments other than in some court or other are finally testing the patience of even the hard core fans?

| So we're currently 9 points behind Salford, by my reckoning that will officially relegate us by the home game v Hull FC mid-August.

Pretty much, though maybe 'resignation' would be more accurate, at least in my case. As well as a few more words like "royally fscked off".
Basically I think it's hard to be bothered when the players are so clearly not. Biggest bunch of shirkers in my time watching the club. They probably even have convinced themselves into believing their own excuses - when they can be bothered to make them.
A collective two fingers up at Lowes, too.

Agreed - do you know if Jimmy has invited any of the players into the car park yet? - that could draw a bigger crowd than the games!

| Jimmy won't have had much time on the training field yet, so our improvement with the ball in hand will have to be attributed directly to BK returning. Which is a good thing.
And thats about it.
PTB was slow, partly due to Warrington being much cleverer than us in slowing the PTB down. Line speed was poor which is down to effort (lack of). Which contributed to:
Warrington having time & space in the middle of the park to do whatever they felt like.
I will say that when Donno came on after about 20minutes (or the game being gone), we did tighten up in the centre. But that was 20minutes too late. Addy had a bit of a 'mare.
Strangely, I did feel better about that defeat, rather than the Salford one. I think there will be an improvement, given some time.

| I actually went to Warrington with my family and although initially we thought there would be a 60 plus points against after the first ten minutes we did not at any time think the players were not trying. Had that been the case we would not have scored tries late on. Having discussed this point with other ardent followers we came to the conclusion that the players did not have the confidence to open up the play early in the game but once they relaxed we were much better. We actually 'bombed' three good tries so all in all we were more satisfied after yesterday's game than most of the previous matches.

Agreed. We had this under the dismal Mr Agar and it is a counter productive stratergy. 17 fit blokes with decent ability and good attitude can beat any team - we've done it to two of the "top" teams in the last month.

Yes but only if we can manage to concede considerably
less than our current match average of circa 40 points.

| As can be seen by the lack of posts, nobody is bothered any more. We've been relegated with months of the regular season still to run, and while certainly there was effort to be seen, and I suppose there is still some point for pride and for Lowes, it's a weird feeling for me. I try to get excited but in fact the whole atmosphere is pretty flat and depressing, as the previous results have made it all such a depressing waste of everybody's time. That's the thing, we are going through the motions, but it's just not relevant to anything. Above all, if they'd put in a similar effort all year then we would not be relegated at this point.

| I've never considered to the team to lack effort. Belief, well yeah, most probably, along with composure and any confidence in themselves [and those around them, but not effort. I agree about the fans; we've given it up - little wonder when you look realistically at where we are. I think, along with the team, we all thought, "oh no, not [iagain[/i" after Moore and his group packed it in at the start of the season and let's face it, the feeling of doom, hanging like the sword of Damocles, hasn't really lifted since.
I'm beginning to feel a bit sorry for Mr Green. Given the last two or three of years it would have been pretty impossible for [ianyone[/i to convince the fans, and maybe the players, that everything is suddenly alright now, so he really has a job on his hands. As a fan, I often feel that I'm just 'going through the motions'. I mean, I still shout, in impotent rage, at what I feel are 'bum calls', from the man in the middle, but then I just joke about it with the bloke in the next seat, there's no emotion anymore and I don't even feel saddened for a while, after we've lost, like I used to do.
I've wanted to bring the curtain down on 2014 for a couple of months now, and for me, it's pretty hard to blame the players for feeling the same.

This pretty much sums it up for me. It’s also starting to seep into my enjoyment of the rest of the sport as well – as in I’m just not bothered about it. Sometimes I don’t know the results of other SL matches until I read the League Express (and since I subscribe, that’s on a Tuesday!). The other week I didn’t even know the result of Saints vs Wigan until two days after it was played. Even two years ago in the middle of our first implosion I wouldn’t have missed Saints vs Wigan.
I’ll always love RL and I’ll always support the Bulls, but I need a break because I’m absolutely sick of this season. (Having said that I’m quite looking forward to London away. Should be a laugh, gallows humour and all that)

The players can't do the conga, as they find it too hard to get both hands on the person jogging in front of them.
