www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/s ... kes_debut/
Really refreshing article with Diskin seemingly the only one recognising the errors we have made in terms of selection and recruitment that the fans have been screaming about for about a year. Too large a squad, youth development etc
Interesting that Diskin dropped a lot of Jimmy's favourites last week. Crossley, Mathers, starting Lumb, subbing Addy etc plus he had the faith in the U19s and wasn't afraid to drop the senior players who haven't been good enough recently. He wanted to play a few more.
I've no doubt if Lowes was in charge last week Mathers and Crossley would have played, Addy would have done the full 80 as always, and he would have put a second-rower at centre instead of giving a debut to Oakes.
Going to very interesting against Workington whether Lowes sticks with young guns against Workington, or brings his favourties such as Blythe, Crossley, Mathers and playing Danny Addy for 80 minutes.
Spot on as well about us having such a large squad, that the u19s don't get a chance.
Would be a huge loss if he goes to Batley.

| There's been several T&A stories this week around Diskin and his taking charge against Dewsbury.
He comes across as knowledgeable and straightforward, in fact his whole demeanour is miles beyond what Lowes has put out to the media.
It seems that Diskin has a far better grasp of tactics and studying your opponent for weaknesses to exploit as well as better game and sub management than Lowes has shown and he's shown he's not one to rely on under-performing first teamers when he knows there's hungry lads in the u19's looking for the chance to shine.
Do I think he should replace Lowes as head coach? Not just yet as Diskin himself has said he's still learning, but I think Lowes needs replacing by someone who'll actually listen to his coaching staff's input because going by Harrison's comments when he left it seems that Lowes' attitude is "my way or no way". Now that attitude is fine if you're someone like Alex Fergusson with a ton of experience and trophies to back up the assertion that your way is the right way, but Lowes doesn't have that and I'm doubtful that he ever will

| If it is true that Lowes offered to resign then if I'd been in charge I'd have appointed Diskin in a breath. I don't care he's never had a head coach job, this is only the Championship ffs, he's played under an array of top class coaches and where better for a novice coach to cut his teeth?
Plus, we needed a fillip, and a new coach always provides that. An oldie could easily have been appointed as assistant or director of rugby or whatever if MG thought Diskin was too inexperienced.
He showed a bit of that and of what he could do last weekend.
Sadly we are now back to normal, except without a Diskin, which I don't expect will be a positive for the squad.
Don't blame Diskin but it's a shame, and won't improve performances.

| That's a loss - hopefully we'll get someone decent in to replace him.
Given the recent poor relationship between the T&A and Lowes/Ferres it's interesting to see the positive things written about Diskin. I'm sure I'm probably reading between the lines too much.

| ..and hope he doesn't return for the odd youngster in the close season!..Good luck Matt at Batley, just hope we can sort ourselves out in the meantime.Worrying that we are losing key management figures such as Harrison,Parker and now Diskin and still there remain question marks over the current direction of our 1st team management performance.

| It’s worrying when you lose good people. I can see that people want to go on and progress but we should be looking to keep our best and progress as a club together.
One things for sure. Other clubs/companies never come for the people you want rid of.

Would that be Glenn Hall, or, as some genius behind me on the Pop. Terrace named him, Short Haul?
What an awful signing.

Given what he and his partner went through just before moving to Bradford, I don't think he was mentally set for a move around the world and it would have been more beneficial for both us and him to have cancelled the transfer

| Bit of a sickener to hear this news
I think Diskin would have been exactly the kind of young, hungry, articulate, intelligent coach who would have been a great appointment for us for next year when I'm sure there will be vacancy to fill
The fact that he got appointed over and above experienced people like Cummins and Hay speak volumes for how he puts himself across, despite his comparative lack of experience.
Hope it doesn't come back to bite us...

| Diskin really pushing for a lot more U19s to be in the team! Obviously Diskin doesn't rate a fair few of the first teamers. Will Jimmy listen.

| Didn't Diskin once say he was looking for part-time coaching as he has his business to run as well. This is why it seemed logical for him to apply for the Batley job.
Things may have changed with him but I never thought of him possibly taking over from Jimmy due to this - I may be totally wrong on this.

Some kind of property rental business I believe.

The fact Batley asked to speak to him rather than the other way around speaks louder volumes I would suggest.

| I'm obviously disappointed to hear the news but, just as obviously, wish him well as he's done a great job for us.
I can see how a part-time job would suit his business commitments, so the job at Batley will be ideal. Not sure how it pans out if he is a great success at the club and is approached by a super league club, but I guess that's for the future.
Incidentally, I can't really see any of the U 19s jumping ship as, I'd guess, the best of them will be looking very firmly towards a full-time job when they graduate from the academy, and they won't be getting that at Mount Pleasant. Our worries on that score will be on them getting SL deals, even more so if we remain in division 2.
