I see no reason to change a winning line up. If Gardner is carrying a knock Makinson straight in. That should be the only forced change.

I'd rather we rotate the props if we have the guys fit. Don't want a stagnent 17 like last year.

No way should props need resting after only a few rounds of Super League. We have had wholesale changes allready the last thing we need is more.

It's not really a question of resting them though is it? If we have more props than we need on the field at one time then surely it is good player management to rotate so as to have the best chance of keeping as many of them as fit (and as match fit) as possible?

Its not quite the same as centre SL level. He is 10KG lighter than Manu, Turner and Jones.

I think he is more suited to winger or full back.

Yes he is lighter but he is also a lot quicker than two of the three you mention.

Tommy Mak isnt a lightweight. according to Saints he is 90kg. Thats 5 KG heavier than Gary Wheeler who i didnt see getting embarrassed physically at centre, and only 2kg lighter than Darryl Goulding at Wigan and 3 kg less than Warringtons Chris Bridge.

Better to have people competiting for places. Also if you don't rotate now, you fall into the trap of next week being to early, the week after being to big a game to rotate etc etc.

And you just keep playing them.

We had Fozzard, Graham, Fasavalu, Anderson and Cayless. They did not play week in week out, each week one of them took a back seat, which kept the team fresh and fighting for places come the serious end of the year.

There is a misconception driven by trends that you have to be massive to play centre or be a fast second row. It's simply not true and it's the reason why we have little to no craft out in the centre's these days. Good footwork , pace, good hands, and a Rugby brain are whats needed - if you also happen to be built like a tank like Newlove then all the better.

I expected Makinson to come in for Gardner, I don't think Brown would bring a back/halfback into the squad if he wasn't going to play them.

Puletua and Clough rested. Gardner had a slight knock but nothing serious so is left our as a precaution.

Not the best news for Cloughy, having missed the beginning of the season.

However, Clough is a very known quantity, so I guess Brown wants to experiment against a weakened Wildcat team.

Also, with Clough coming back from injury it may be just a week to put his feet up and ensure his recovery isn't hampered by over playing him?

Perhaps that why Wheeler has so many injuries and Goulding has had his fair share.?
