I thought it was a tap restart from a 40/20. Wigan have just kicked one and it was a scrum?

There was talk on here that the rule had changed for this season, but apparently it's only something that's being trialled at lower levels. |

I don't like the tap idea, it is effectively a 'live' penalty then.
With the scrum you have a slim chance of regaining possession.

the new rule is to reward the skill of the kick. It needs encouraging and not giving the defending team a chance to regain possession would do that

It's already rewarded by the scrum. If you can't successfully win your own scrum in RL then that's your problem.
Basically someone over in the NRL in the land of Diet-America thought "oh wouldn't it be cool if you kicked a 40-20 and then could sprint up field and take the tap really quickly". It's unnecessary and simply adds to the Aussies drive to turn the game into a simplistic bash-a-thon |
