With regards the argument about taking the two, even if you say Leeds don't score if they go for a try, Leigh would still be starting the next set 98m away from the Leeds line......we took the kick and instead we have to come away from our own line after the kickoff and we didn't get that far away from it on that following set so the game takes on a complete different pattern with regards field position and there's no guarantee that Leigh grab that 3rd try to make it a one score game.

I take Gotcha's point that not taking the 2 would have left us vulnerable to losing the game by conceding a penalty.

Still a bit negative though. Against 12 men against a recently promoted team they should have backed themselves to get over for a try or get a repeat set (not that they seem to be interested in the latter these days...). I was a bit disconcerted that McGuire seemed to argue with John Wells at the touchscreen that dying in possession on the 6th was a good outcome vs the risk of gifting them a 7 tackle restart. That said, maybe we need to be safety-first until we've a few more wins under our belt.

I personally wouldn't have gone for it. Whilst we still have our struggles near the line we also did actually score two tries last night from close and they were a man down.

Also the field position afterwards if we didn't score would've been a big thing they way the 2nd was going. They got close to our line because they were starting sets near halfway, didn't fancy them to get past us if they had to go 90m.

If the stats are saying he had zero missed it's wrong, I watched the final 20 mins earlier today and he missed two in that alone. Shot ahead of his outside defenders a couple of times and why Leigh got joy down their left in the final period and he didn't offer much with ball in attack. One of our few chances near their line in the 2nd half he chucked one into Watkins from a yard away when Golding was the right option out the back.

i'd have run that penalty. against 12 men, who were shattered, how low is our confidence and self belief to take the 2?

Regardless of Ward's motm credentials, he's an excellent player. I want him match fit and I want him in the side.

That two points prevented Leigh from kicking a penalty to win the match or slotting a drop goal to equalise. It meant they had to score a try to win. When it was a shot for two directly in front of the posts and when our attack is $hite, it was clearly the correct decision. We must take any easy shots at goal whilst McNumb remains in charge as our attack will not improve whilst he is at the helm.

I don't disagree at all on the negative point. And I certainly don't disagree on your second point of negativity.

But regardless of negative, it proved the right decision made and ultimately won us the match, so nobody should be moaning about it. We have lost so many matches over last twelve months by not taking that option, and last night proved differently.

It was the right decision

Leigh hadn't scored their 3rd try at the point so it's not a gimme that it would've been a 1 or 3 point game going into the final minutes.

And yes our attack was poor and this decision saw us have to collect a kickoff from our own in goal and try and attack from there.

But we didn't, and we didn't plenty of other times we had the ball in Leigh territory, same as we didn't the week before in Saints territory. But what we did though is ensure that Leigh had to score a try for us to lose, which ultimately proved to be the totally correct call, so it is quite easy for me to say it was correct.

Don't see the point of debating it when we won tbh. I thought it was the right descision at the time, as it made sure a penalty wasn't enough.

Could we have tapped and scored, maybe, did it matter, no.

I think Terry O' Connor nearly orgasmed late in the game as Leigh went close to pinching it. There was a long audible moan of excitement in the background that tapered off to a groan without a single word being spoken. Very worrying, especially as he has never been so close to orgasm when Leeds go close to snatching a win.

O'Connor made Clarke sound good. When they all agreed that Hall had been obstructed for Leigh's 2nd try he said that no Leeds player had been impeded from making the tackle.

If Reynolds had kicked the 2 conversions and Vea had passed to his right then it would have been a Leigh win..

This is sport, you win some you lose some...we lost, you won. No hard feeling from this end, it was a good game to watch. Both teams looked jittery, and lacked finish. Leigh have pressure being the new kids on the block, Leeds have pressure with the past history. Both teams will be fine come the end of the day

Tez has always hated Leeds and loves a dig. Clarke will always be the same. The Mags rant is there for all to see. Clarke will always be scum.

On the game; there was plenty of nice moments in there with the ball (first half really). Some really nice moments from those getting the most stick. Second half was a shocker though.

Leeds look very average, you will get some heavy beatings this season when you start playing the top teams. Before you harp up about St Helens they look as bad as you lot.

Which tops sides are those???

Yet Saints still are one of the top teams. As for heavy beatings, our defence is looking very strong early door and won't be leaking the points it did last year. The frustrating thing about the Saints loss is that it's probably going to be the lowest amount of points they score in a home game all season.
