| Perfect night for us. Some players got a rest, others got minutes in their legs, we got the 3 points, and nobody got injured. Pretty telling that the only player out of the front four not rested was Aaronson. Farke obviously sees more in him that a lot of supporters. For me there’s nobody plays that role like him. His execution isn’t always the best, but he runs in behind defenders, finds pockets of space, and his work rate is phenomenal. That’s why Farke has stuck with him when others have doubted him.

| Good all round performance away from home where not many teams will claim 3 points.
When you think Aaronson missed 2 sitters along with Joseph 2, James 1 and Bamford 1 even Ampadu 1 this could have been a drubbing away from home.
Not sure I agree with your thoughts on Aaronson.
Yes he runs around a lot but can`t win a 1 on 1 contact and often makes the wrong decision.
But all credit to him he keeps going and pops up at the right time.
Joseph another who runs a lot but his finishing is terrible and looks like another Joffy.
Rodon brilliant at the back once again and personally think Rothwell adds more going forward than both Tanaka and Ampadu.
Reading the YEP report and can`t remember the "miracle save" from Meslier.

I don’t think Aaronson is perfect, but he’s fits the role better than anyone else in the team. Farke has worked at this level long enough to see how a player affects games, and not necessarily when they have the ball. There is no other real candidate for what people call “the number 10 role”. I thought Ramazani was weak tonight, something Aaronson is accused of. I also thought Gnonto gave possession away far too easily in the 2nd half. They are the competition for Aaronson, and at the moment Farke only sees one winner. I don’t see him being displaced anytime soon.

| I think Aaronson adds to the team for sure, can’t see anyone else is the squad doing his role, and you’d probs need to spend premier league money to get a better player in January.
Thought we missed Dan James tonight, and the three replacements showed why they are the usual starters.
Farke gets a list of stick for “boring” football, but the goal was a thing of beauty

Yes I agree about Ramazani and Gnonto who flattered to deceive again.
I put it down to lack of game time but you cannot pick 13 players each week.
If like you say Aaronson is the best choice at 10 which I`m not disputing.
I would worry that if he gets injured we do not have a back up hence why we should look to bring in someone on loan imo.

Very difficult for Ramazani to hit the ground running, he's not had many minutes for weeks, we're now only seeing the best of Solomon after he's had consistent minutes. Gnonto doing ok, but again he's not starting game so it's never easy to get some form going.
Main thing is all the players inc subs have been contributing this season and credit to Farke for that, he's got to have a happy camp to achieve that. Aaronson is a goal scorer who occasionally assists, he played really well against Derby and credit to him for that. He makes very good runs. If he could just improve his composure and gets a bit stronger he'd be a serious player.
Agree with you Chapy that we lack good options at 10, I'd definately look to do a loan there if it's possible. The club went after a 10 big time in the summer so i wouldn't be surprised if they are on the look out. Gnonto can do a job there but i'm not sure of his suitability there over a run of games. If we can add a bit of quality there we should be far too good not to get top 2.

I still see them walking around the gym with their scum gear on like they are superior beings. I make a point of asking every single one if they think Man Utd will stay up this year . The reactions range from a laugh, offended, and incredulity. I’m gonna start asking the City fans the same question.

| aaronson may not be perfect but he's already scored more than rutter did all last season.
I don't think we'll get a 10 as we can cope till the summer. hopefully we'll need a better quality player by then.
possibly another no 9., maybe another full back

| 2 points dropped. tanaka totally switched off at the corner and bang.
looked leggy, not surprisingly, and imo farke got the subs all wrong. bamford offered absolutely nothing and ramazani should have been on.
still, 7 points from 9 over Christmas.

| I think we’re all so used to winning at home that it feels like a real setback. In fairness to Blackburn, they did a job on us again. We really struggled to create anything that first half, and for me the two right footers (Byram and Solomon) going down the left hand side killed our shape in the final third. We’re coming back inside and congesting play up front far too often from that left hand side. No real presence in the box until Joseph came on as well it has to be said. Dan James had his worst game this season probably, and it maybe sums up just how over reliant we might be getting on him at times. I agree with Tad re Bamford, I’d have just brought Joseph on for Piroe and Gnonto for Rothwell and that would have kept a better shape on the field. Anyway, no panic stations, just a very good winning home run coming to an end. Bounce back at Hull hopefully.

| i agree about byram. kills loads of breaks. solomon i thouhht was looking dangerous. i'd have dropped piroe to 10 to find a pocket of space.
as it stands, and it will probably change, sheff utd on for 1 point from 9 so makes ours look superb.
big game at hull.then it's a fortnight with only harrogate in there and surely resting players.

| We said it earlier on here that Byram will struggle to play 3 games so for me that was a risk to select him.
Solomon the only one showing a threat in the second half with James showing nothing and he brings Solomon off.
What was the point in Bamford coming on again.
Just keep him out please.
Need to beat Hull and today we will forget about it.
But we always seem to struggle against physical teams.
Not sure if anyone heard Merson saying he feels for Leeds as they struggle to break down teams who sit back.
I sort of get his point but we keep snagging the points.

Farke has been somewhat out managed by John Eustace in the last month it has to be said. Two games and only one goal scored, and an iffy penalty at that. We were outmuscled to some extent, and their left back stood up to our two best attacking threats in Bogle and James very well. Some teams will find you out and Blackburn have done this season. Our lack of aerial threat and strength up front with Piroe was again highlighted, and this may well have focused some minds with the transfer window opening.

| some good points.
as good as james has been his crossing was abysmal yesterday. we got into some great positions wide but apart from 1 supurb cross each by solomon and james. from which we could have scored twice, we created nothing.
a tired display against a big, solid side who housed all the game.
should have won, got a point, move on.
as I said before sheff utds 1 point in 9 puts our christmas into perspective

| Agree with a lot of the above. didn't see the game as was laid up badly but from what i have read and the extended highlights, we were well below par against a team who are a bit of a bogey side for us.
I heard an interesting stat about Bamford that he hasn't scored a goal when coming on as a sub for a very long time.. he's very rarely an effective sub. The loss of Bogle and Byram i think probably cost us the win in the end, i suspect we would have defended better when we went 1 up. Strujik defending was poor for the goal also, he should have blocked the shot.
Still results went for us and Sheff U have had a horrendous Christmas which is great. Nice 3 point gap now (plus excellent goal diff) will do. Hull on Saturday is an important one. We need to go hell for leather at them then rest everyone for the Cup. Use the Cup to get mins in Bamford and Joseph along with Ramazanni - then play the young lads. Debayo, Crew etc.

| Agreed
I have thought for a long time that they are practically running Aaronsen into the ground (even if it means burning him out) with the intention of bringing in a 10 in the January window.
It will all sort itself out.
