Not for beating them in the 4 Nations but as mentioned previously in a 3 match test series.
The only available slot in the international calendar is 2012 with the current plans for the 4 Nations here and down under in the coming years. Would this be a chance to revive Great Britain as a touring/one off team?

It's wrong.

It should be a three test series. It's been completely devalued by including it as part of a different international competition.

Crap idea. It's the gold standard competition for GB/England players and has been for 100 years. It's always been a 3 match series.

Plans to change it to be a one game trophy devalue the whole thing.

Translation: We havent sold as many tickets for the JJB...DW stadium as we liked

they know they might get the odd fluke win so thats why they've asked for this.

It's funny that in a time when average crowds for league games would be around 5k, we could fill virtually any venue 3x over when the Aussies toured - not to mention the big crowds at the club games.
This is a truly feeble decision.

Whilst i agree with the sentiments of most on here it would be interesting to see just how all of the above posters think this could be done differently.

As far as i can see International rugby is pretty much booked up with 4 nations and World Cups.

Its unlikely a full ashes series/tour could be scheduled in.

There has been a feeling that International RL has been on the slide but i for one have enjoyed the recent Tri-nations series and NZ Tour and i think the International committee should be applauded for the work they have put in.

At least they are now making forward plans for a number of years.

Hopefully the alternate Ashes tours can be brought back in, but until then i would be happy to see the ashes played for in a one off game as long as both sides agree in advance and there can be no excuses.

The 4 nations is pointless, France showed how crap they are in the World Cup and England were not far behind.

It was always going to be Australia and New Zealand.

IMO there is plenty of time 2 play a 3 test series, it should be GB but there isnt any point as at the moment Ireland, Wales and Scotland don't offer anything to the set up.

scrap the magic weekend save a week there!
