| Thought Saints forwards had the edge on ours.. looked much more explosive. Galloway looks finished to me. Ablett didn't look fit at all still rate him though.
I'd like Leeds to bring in a big powerful metre gaining impact prop for next season salary cap permitting of course.

I think we have that with Garbutt TBH, he didn't look his usual self on Thursday though. We could do with a big off loading unit on the fringes more than anything for me but above all that a game manager to go with Myler for next year is a must.

I think we're prop heavy to be honest. We have too many big plodders in the middle. I'd say cuthbertson and garbutt are two of the best props in SL. Galloway, singleton are ok to be next up in the 17, then mullally, baldwinson, ormandroyd, oledzki are cover.
It's 2nd row we're in desperate need of impact especially with JJB now pretty much a middle man and more recently fat ferres starting at lose. We're left with
Ward - no complaints (apart from maybe injuries)
Albett- desperate need to regain some form
Delaney- injuries
Keinhorst- good interchange/utility
Walters- one of the worst players to play for Leeds since joe Vickey
Cam smith- unproven
Josh Jordan Roberts - unproven
This is the way I see it anyway.

I thought Galloway had one of his better games for us. He, Cuthbertson and Garbutt all had 100m+ games. Compare to Singleton who started and managed just 65m from 13 carries. Last week everybody struggled but Singleton especially so with 7 carries for a grand total of 33m.
He hasn't had a single 100m game all season in 14 outings, a lot of them starts and averages just 72m per game.
Comparison
Cuthbertson - 15 out of 20 games he's done 100m+ with an avg. of 123m
Garbutt - 12 out of 14 games he's done 100m+ with an avg. of 143m
Galloway - 4 out of 8 games he's done 100m+ with an svg. of 102m.
I know Singleton isn't the biggest prop but he needs to offer more metres if he's to justify starting games.

Agreed.
I have also given Mullally a lot of stick on here but he has stepped it up a bit of late and i thought he played really well against Saints, aggressive running and looked to really get involved and mix it up, he clearly has it in him so please keep that up and we may yet have a good squad man in him after all!

Yes I'd agree backrow needs some work. I'd get shut of Galloway and replace with another big impact prop. Galloway reminds me of a tall Mike Oniel...

Wow, would have thought Singletons stats are better than that. that's very average.

| Wasn`t Singleton one of the top tacklers on Friday?
If that is the case I could forgive him for not doing the yards.

| Tackle wise he did 32 on Thursday and that same number is his average for the season, which is healthy enough but nothing amazing to compensate for poor yardage. Just look at the average gain per carry through the team
Burrow - 9.04
Oledzki - 9.00
Garbutt - 8.48
Ormondroyd - 8.44
Galloway - 8.40
Keinhorst - 8.23
Delaney - 7.87
Walker - 7.86
Ferres - 7.83
Hall - 7.75
Mullally - 7.66
Ablett - 7.29
Briscoe - 7.23
Watkins - 7.09
Sutcliffe - 7.09
Handley - 6.89
Cuthbertson - 6.89
Walters - 6.83
Baldwinson - 6.78
Parcell - 6.67
Ward - 6.57
JJB - 6.38
Moon - 6.24
Golding - 6.19
McGuire - 6.18
SINGLETON - 6.13
Lilley - 5.36
That's shocking for a starting prop (he'd started 12 of his 14 appearances as prop, 1 loose, 1 sub) to be down there with the HB's with lack of pace. See the numbers the others props are doing including Galloway, Mullally, Baldwinson and Ornondroyd and even well behind the likes of much maligned Delaney and Walters. Grabted players have played different amount of games but he still shouldn't be that low down.

| Out of all our props Singleton would be the easiest to replace, his go forward is very poor, and he hasn't developed any leg drive since he made his debut. Galloway is one of the most underrated players in the league and way ahead of Singleton IMO. The only reason Singleton gets away with his averageness is because he came through the academy

| To be fair to singleton he's a good aggressive defender who puts in big hits in defence. 32 tackles a game is OK but not outstanding, but he does put in some dominant collisions. I think that the key to the front rowers is balance. Some add to the defensive side, others make big meters, and others get quick play the ball. Having some in each category is probably wise in the match day squad

How does Singleton compare to tackles made?
I also think that Singleton does hit hard and can see him getting better as he matures.

Agree with that. Singleton's main issue for me is he is not quite big enough for a top draw prop. However, he is tough, durable, mobile, puts in some big hits and I think still improving. Most Leeds forwards are missing at least 2 of those attributes. I'd keep him.

| I always feel we lose control of games when Galloway goes off if im honest. He does a much better job than people give him credit for. Hes not spectacular by any means but does a rock solid steady job every week.
The opposition pack usually get on top of ours when hes replaced. Thats how i always see it anyway. The Catalan game in France was blatantly obvious for that.

| Our forwards as a whole lack a spark. Except for Cuthbertson's offloads we don't have any real bite with the ball. They also don't exactly do a lot of work off the ball in attack, in terms of providing dummy runners, but that's been true of our pack for a decade.

| I think thats a key point. Weve no X Fsctor in the pack. All the backrowers are the same. They graft and graft but none have any spark in attack.
We are linked with Hep Cahill but we already have 4 Hep Cahills in our back row. We need another Lauitiiti type player but that isnt easy to find. Cas have picked a couple of good forwards in Moors and SLF and thats the type we need.

His defence is ok but nothing to write home about nor good enough to make up for pitiful attack numbers. I do agree you need a balance with your props and couldn't have 4 Cuthbertson's in your 17, however the issue with Singleton is that he's starting matches. Personally I think you need to be making metres early doors and winning the field position battle otherwise it just puts a strain on the whole team if you aren't getting far enough away from your own line.

| On the plus side, I reckon Singleton generates a faster ptb than the other props. Whether this compensates for the lack of yardage is a moot point.

Which is a shame considering Ward played at '6' in his junior days and probably has a lot more to offer than as a grafter taking it straight up the middle, time after time.

Sinfield's physical skills were limited due to size & speed. More than countered by his mental strengths. Ward will be wasted as a battering ram who can tackle a lot.

| I think its speed and dynamism we lack in the middle. Cuthbo obviously has a great offload, Ablett and Ward have decent hands, but we have little of the 'snap' to get clear and turn a half-break in to a break or to get clear from a break. That not only comes from the forwards but it from the halves and fullback too. Its one of the reasons im excited to see how Myler goes because i think he will add a lot there.

Agree. IMO - Our wingers now are in the same boat. I don't know if the injuries have slowed Briscoe down or whether it's the training to produce 2 bulky wingers to return the ball from kicks. Looking at some highlights from 2014 and 2015, Briscoe had pace and power and his build looked more athletic and he scored long range tries. Hall, whilst still a great finisher near the line, struggles to back up a break and looks too big to me.
