Exactly. I think someone has taken what Sinfield has said on the radio, and the fact GH went over to Aus and made an assumption. Now had ellis been at Manly I'd say we owed them a tapping up as it'd make it 1-1 but I don't think GH is stupid enough to tap players up in that way. And there certainly wouldn't have been a signed deal done in january as Ellis would have been in breach of contract with Wests. Also knowing the agent he has his agent wouldn't agree to keeping it all hush hush

Re Pitts, I thought he had his best game for us last night, showing great pace & strength at times.
I was pleasantly surprised.'"
Yup, got through an awful lot of work and his stats should be interesting. Reminded me of JJB to be honest, not quite as dynamic in the lines he ran but was everywhere in defence and wasn't scared to take the ball up. After people calling for him to be released he obviously knows this is his last year to make an impression, and the signs are he's taking his chances well.

no no thats not the issue. Its that we wouldnt have been able to approach him until he enacted the contract break. Now he has had the break agreed anyone can approach him without issue. But if we approached him before which i dont believe we have then that would be a breach as it would be seen as to possibly sway his decission

| Quote ="bewildered"Ah yeah I know he had that but if Leeds approached him in january and then afterwards he requests to break the contract that would suggest tapping up. So to suggest a deal was done in January is very speculative and i would suggest its not the truth at all'"
Then you could say that he already told them before the announcement happened, and talking to Leeds players and Gary he could of said he is coming home to one of them.
I think it is funny how Gary goes to Aus in January, says he's looking for a marquee signing for 2013, we hear nothing from it, and then a few months later Gaz announces he's coming home next season.
I'm not judging this on assumption btw, just like I didn't with Darrell Griffin and Weller Hauraki.

| Nah I think had he already decided on the release and Wests held back on the announcement it would have leaked. Aside from that there is no proof of a signing. And lets not forget Heatherington went to Australia a few years ago to make a marque signing and came back with Cross

| Signing another back rower would indicate there are no plans for Sinfield to return to playing loose forward any time soon.
It would also mean that when everyone is available one of Ellis, Delaney, Ablett and JJB would have to get used to operating off the bench rather than in the starting line up.

I'd have no problem with Delany coming off the bench. He'd certainly add the most impact. I guess Hauraki would have to leave though

Hauraki departing and Ellis arriving is well worth it and will give that extra "Leader" in the pack when JP leaves.

| One word of caution though, our track record on past players coming back aint great though... Harris (a blessing in hind-sight) and Morley went elsewhere....

| Harris didn't come back because in reality would he have gotten into the squad with the emergence of Burrow and McGuire? Also there are a lot of rumours that Noble (the then GB coach) had promised to always pick him for the GB squad.
As for Morley, he came back to where there was lots of money at Warrington. I have it on good authority we offered him a very good deal but Warrington just gazzumped everyone
