| Awful again on Friday.
At least 3 knock ons in scoring positions.
Seems to spend his time moaning at the ref.
Does he offer anything anymore?
Don't get me wrong, he's had an amazing career and is a club legend, but when is enough, enough?

| What more does he offer?
A glorious pass for watkins try, provided A great kick for Watkins no try.
He had a bad first half but was very good in the second.

| What a ridiculous post. He's played as well in the last 3 weeks as he has since 2015. He's the only one directing us round the park at the moment and his form has improved since Moon was moved to half back allowing him to be the primary play maker.
As for his 3 knock ons. One was from a kick off-hardly a scoring position. The other 2 were offloads-both of which he's expect to take but neither were particularly easy and neither looked like certain tries.
He's not got long left but he's by far the best half back we have at the club right now.

| I remember whispers very much the same as this about Holmesy when he wa coming to the very back end in the mid 80's. The saving grace was that John was able to slip into the A team and only very sedomly make the odd 1st team appearance. Now, 30 years on, he's revered as a legend, and rightly so. In my mind, Danny should've gone out with Sinny, JP and Kylie.
The only problem with that is we had no adequate replacements coming through and you can all place the blame on whoever you think that is as you see fit.

| Now that we have a stronger performing pack, he looks to be approaching his best form. He was bad in the first half an hour, but was outstanding after that. He's been under appreciated for years IMO, and will be very hard to replace. If you look at the halves that have emerged since, only Williams and Eastmond have looked to have the all round skills McGuire has.

| He was as bad in the first half as he was good in the second. With his pace declining, he relies more and more on his organising skills which have never really been the strongest point. There is still enough there for him to be vital this year, and as back up next year, but we do need to sign a really good organiser next season, unless of course Lilley is given a chance to show his skills this year at the top level.

| George Williams knocked on, threw a ball into touch and passed to Ablett twice all in 2nd half.
Does he offer anything? Should he retire too?
Danny is playing more of an organising and game management role which is a great testament to the way hes adapted his game over the years as his pace has faded away. He still offers moments of class as the pass to Watkins showed and we are a far better team when he plays.
One of the greatest players we have ever seen in the history of our club so lets enjoy him while it lasts.

| I think he would have been instrumental in us winning a fourth Grand final in a row ,but for that terrible injury he suffered against Wigan in 2010. He was at the peak of his career imo at that time

| McGuire is performing as you'd expect for an old HB with injury issues who hasn't had to be a play maker or captain until the end of his career.
The fact is he should really have been supported by the type of 7 we have all been asking for but seem unable (or unwilling ) to sign given Lilley seems to not be given the shirt to grow into like Golding.
The transfer/change of key roles has again be left last minute to the point we are using a centre as first choice HB. I don't know how long McGuire and Burrow's contracts run for but the fact is next year we now need to find a new 6&7 from slim pickings, with Lilley as back up. That won't be easy and won't be a steady transition.
Who is available? who is likely to come given GH and his spending or lack thereof?.

| Take this however you want, but was talking to a board member who said McGuire is retiring at the end of the year, and we've got a pre-agreement with Widdop.
He also said the board wanted to replace BMc in the summer, but the (Australian) coaches they'd targeted wanted too much money.

| I think Danny said He would like one more trophy to round off his career .That could be an indication that he intends to retire this season .I can't see him playing beyond his 35th birthday

| Agrreements mean as much as contracts these days.
While Widdop would be an improvement I still think we would need another HB if Burrow is also retiring or staying as hooker cover.

| As much as I think Lilley might deserve a chance at some point, for me it shouldn't be alongside McGuire. We need some pace in the halves be it from Moon or Burrow-I don't want to see Burrow as anything but a back up half / interchange hooker though really. The emergence of Keinhorst has allowed Mac to experiment with Moon and I think he compliments Maggs perfectly. The only thing really lacking is a credible kicking game.
Maguire has arguably possessed all the skills to be a world class half throughout his career, just not all at the same time. Having said that he's been a very very good player for 15 plus years and that is testament to the word he has put in developing and evolving his game.

| McGuire can be frustrating to watch at times but he's still a vital part of the current squad with his organising game. I'd expect him to continue to improve provided he can stay fit.

| I dont think anyone can or will question Dannys contribution during his time here & 100% he stands with Sinfield et al amongst our greatest ever players.
However time & tide wait for no-one especially when it takes longer to recover from injuries as has been his case.
I think his time is coming to an end at least as a sure-fire starting HB & Captain.
That said id definately keep him on in either a Coaching or mentoring role if he wants it.

| Sutcliffe has had over 100 games now, and countless training sessions to show he could replace first Sinfield, and now McGuire, and has come nowhere near so far. Now it seems the coaches have decided he's never going to make it as a regular first choice half.
Lilley should be given some game time at some point this season. He looks to have developed physically and seems to be doing well at Bradford, but I still have doubts about him as a long term main half back at a top club.
Widdop has been in great form for St George this season, he'd be a fantastic signing at this point, but if he carries on I think he'll stay in the NRL
