Despite Mr Betts being one of the longest lasting head coaches at the same Super League club - and their fans instructing how a certain club owner should invest in youth - it seems they have very much gone for experience.
Perhaps they don't believe in the Under 19's being ready for Super League Qualifier games.
Mr Betts does seem to have moulded a good blend of youth and experience.

Listened to it on Radio Merseyside - not as much of a walk over as the score suggests watched the Leigh match at the same time looked to be more onesided than the score suggests. So four Championship sides well beaten - need to be much better as well as fulltime!!

A better performance than last week against a far better side.

Imperative that we now win the 3 home games - planning to get promoted once the new stadium appears may be folly looking at the way Leigh are going,despite their plans over previous years.

Aiming for 5th for the 'Million Dollar/Pounds Game' and the resulting publicity has to be the target as it seems Super League clubs will occupy the top 4 - but there is still lots of twists and turns to come.

I hope Steve Thorpe makes a full recovery.

Radio Merseyside were so on the ball with their commentary they said that both injured players were eagles and how hard it was to lose two players and be playing against a super league team! But they were quite complimentary about our performance in such circumstances

I thought on the whole we played well. Widnes were just a class above. If our new ground ever gets built I hope we don't have one of those pitches.

I don't have experience of being at any sporting event where 2 players - one from each side - sustain a broken leg.

I have seen other players sustain injuries on the pitch at Widnes.

I don't think the governing body will be keeping any record,as player welfare always seems to come a little way down their list of priorities.

As I believe our new pitch will be similar to the one at Kingston Park where Newcastle Falcons 15 a side code play - and Newcastle Thunder RLFC - I haven't become aware of any increase in injuries at that location.

Was a bad weekend for player injuries.

I hope Macgraff Leuluai and Steve Thorpe make full and complete recoveries.

griff Widnes are the number 1 seeds have a superb home record on the "plastic" in the second half we only lost 18-6 and yes i agree the match was over by then but from the 39th minute to 76th minute the scores were Sheffield 12 Widnes 10 so we were competitive for 37 minutes !!!

The confidence should come from a far better performance,and against a side considered to be the best in the Qualifiers - one we will not be facing again.

Many a side has come unstuck at Widnes,and we also lost one of our more influential players this term,through injury.
