I see as part of the new Championship proposals there may be an offer of double funding for three years for any championship club that that mergers with another - thats a good idea - who do you fancy chaps - halifax - gateshead - south wales ???

This is a back door route to a two division league, and all the left overs in CC1 can go to hell as far as the RFL is concerned.

My immediate thought when I heard it.

Perhaps we should merge with Scorpions, Skolars and Thunder, base ourselves in Sheffield and claim four times the funding.

I'm a Dons fan and there's no way i would want a merger, as i'm sure that niether would any Eagles fan. South Yorkshire is easily big enough for two RL clubs. It's not as if we're sat on each others doorsteps is it like they are up the road in West Yorks.
I would love to see us back in the CC playing derbies against yourselves again.

Cant we merge with Manly Sea Eagles,Based in sheffield having all there players and we could be called the Sheffield Manly Seagulls!!!

Maybe St. Helens and Wigan Warriors could merge as well.

and the mighty dons (or not so mighty) could become the dragons again and merge with St George Illawara and Les Catalans!! Sounds good to me. On a serious note, the RFL and Superleague messing with our game negatively again, trying to destroy the heritages of numerous clubs, just so they can increase its elitism and get rid of the smaller clubs, who they clearly have no real interest in.
