We're coming to make some noise!: |
|
| Sport never has secrets, there is always somebody that has to tell somebody else and before we know it every man and their dog has heard about it!
The best kept secret for HKR recently has been the Craig Sandercock appointment, while it still made it out before the club announced him it was still quite a shock for all the press and us fans alike.
The Rangi selection for England is a massive kick in the nuts for many young players and I just wish the ones so against it (both young and old) would boycott the England side while there are foreign players in the squad. There are so many players on Twitter saying how wrong it is there must be a certain animosity amongst some of the squad, if those players were to walk out and refuse then the coach and the RFL would have to take notice especially if it was a public protest.
Only will this show of support for the young English players coming through make the RFL sit up and take notice of what is going on. Unfortunately a boycott of fans to England games with Rangi in the side wouldn't get noticed as they are so poorly supported anyway!

| I approve of Rangi Chase's selection and indeed any other similar picks.
If we can get a truly competitive England team it will be the best thing that could happen to RL in this country - indeed I'd go further and say until we do the sport has no chance of growing and expanding.
The RU world cup has been a real bore fest and yet gets so much attention because there is genuine international competition. Rugby League needs the same.
There are 10 times as many kids playing Rugby League in Australia than there are in England. Competing with them is impossible doing what we have been doing.
Chase has played here a long time his game has improved thanks to Super League and he qualifies through residency. Good luck to him my only doubt being I still don't think he is anywhere near the quality of what the Aussies can choose from. But he and Widdop improve the team so that's a start.

You know what it won't be long before that happens either! He's been a standout player when fully fit in this competition yet could hardly get a game over in the NRL... He's exactly what our England team need I have no doubt about that!!!
Now when did Ben Galea get over here? He could be the side-stepping loose forward we've just been looking for, and still a young man (at heart) too!!!

| He is not the only player being looked at. MAC has appointed a scout/admin guy to see who else we can get in the team. Full backing of the RFL and the Etheringtons.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

With Widdop, Brough, Gaskell, Lomax, I'm not sure we should even be looking to have Chase in the team. Great individual player at SL level, not sure he'll shine at international level.
I'd be going with Widdop at stand off and Brough at scrum half with Gaskell and Lomax for the future, irrespective of where people were born.

Brough nailed his colours to scotland - therefore shouldnt be allowed to come back to play for England.

But unless we're going to get some sort of unilateral agreement (which if the RFL and NRL got their act together you'd thin wouldn't be that hard) then we're always going to have this sort of thing.
Uate is probably the world's beat winger at the moment, he played for Fiji at the last world cup and will turn out for Australia at this one.
FWIW, I agree with you, if you've played at senior level for an international team then that's your nationality for the rest of your career.
The few posts on this thread show that the majority of people want that.

| I think it is good that he is in the squad. It gives us more competition in the halves. However, I do agree that once you play for a country at Senior level that should be it.
I think it would be interesting to see if we could get a possibles vs probables game eventually, including the foreign born/based players. Perhaps we will then see whether or not the 'foreigners' are an improvement. If they are then so be it.

| I agree that you shouldn't be allowed to keep changing which country you play for, but Rangi Chase hasn't played For NZ before. He's eligible for England and has said he will apply for duel citizenship when he's allowed. He lives over here no and if he wants the chance to represent his adopted country then I see no problem with that. It's hardly a mockery. Some of you need to get a grip
