Just wondering if I could count on your help?
Basically I'm a 3rd year student studying Sports Journalism and need help with my final project.
I'm producing a super league preview magazine and am hoping to use Q and As with fans from each club as part of it.
Most on my course are doing generic sports such as football so I'm hoping I can use mine as something a little bit different, using my passion of Rugby League.
I was just wondering if any of you could help answer the following questions:

Name:

1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?
2 - Who are the key players for you?
3 - Young star to watch?
4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?
5 - What's the general opinion of Justin Morgan?
6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?
7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?
8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?
9 - How much are you enjoying your superiority over Hull FC and can it continue?
10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?

Much appreciated guys.
If you want to e-mail me for any queries or even if you want to answer via e-mail, don't hesitate to contact me at gfarrimond@uclan.ac.uk

Thank you very much and good luck in 2010! icon_smile.gif

1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?
Excellent; better than most of us were expecting.

2 - Who are the key players for you?
There's a few but I would pick out Michael Dobson and Paul Cooke.

3 - Young star to watch?
Liam Watts

4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?
Sean Long!

5 - What's the general opinion of Justin Morgan?
You won't find many bad words said about Justin from Rovers fans.

6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?
The two derby matches.

7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?
I would imagine Sean Long will become enemy number one from this season.

8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?
Not particularly but there again we could have gone out and signed a load of over the hill Aussies and an injury prone former St Helens player.

9 - How much are you enjoying your superiority over Hull FC and can it continue?
It's effing marvellous and yes of course it will continue.

10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?
Probably top six, we're still a club that's growing both on and off the field. Last year surprised us all and if we can achieve similar or better we'll all be delighted but I think we all know it's going to be much tougher this year.

1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?
Excellent, cheesed off those who want us to fail

2 - Who are the key players for you?
Backs: Dobson Forwards: Newton

3 - Young star to watch?
Kris Welham

4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?
David Mills, unless he starts to run his weight.

5 - What's the general opinion of Justin Morgan?
Sometimes bemused by his team selection but he's usually right and I'm usually wrong.

6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?
The play-offs.

7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?
Kirk Yeaman. For his badge kissing exploits and trying to convince himself he's black and white through and through.

8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?
No. I believe we need more impact up front.

9 - How much are you enjoying your superiority over Hull FC and can it continue?
Of course I'm enjoying it. I feel this season will see a temporary respite for them resulting in their dream of eight easy points coming to fruition. Normal service to be resumed soon after.

10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?
I'm a pessimist by nature. 7th. I think we'll give our all but lack of firepower in the forwards will be our downfall.

Name: CurtSmith

1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?

Exceptional, never expected us to finish so high in the league, just a shame we didnt perform better in the play-offs however i believe we will go better this year now that we've had that experience.

2 - Who are the key players for you?

Clint Newton is an excellent player and rarely has a bad game, Vella still has a big influence on the team and also Dobson when on form really makes us tick.

3 - Young star to watch?

Liam Watts looks promising, our only prop who looks to offload in the tackle and offer us something different.

4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?

Hard to say really, i dont think any player deserves to go.

5 - What's the general opinion of Justin Morgan?

A fantastic coach who has the respect of the players, and the fans are fully behind him. He has a bright future in the game.

6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?

Obviously i would like to say Grand final or Challenge cup final with us featuring in those games, but in the regular season the derbies are the obvious choices, always enjoy leeds at home though.

7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?

There are many, Ryan Bailey is a cheap shot merchant but to be afir doesnt seem as bad as he used to be. I also dislike Briers simply for they way he hasnt made the most of his ability which most of us would give anything to have.

8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?

At the moment i would say im relatively happy, would have loved to see a top hooker come in but we will see how hodgson goes and if Murrell can adapt to become a quality player in his new position.

9 - How much are you enjoying your superiority over Hull FC and can it continue?

Its obviously something to be proud of and to have bragging rights is great, but i dont like to measure rovers against FC and say if we are above them its a success, because we have our own goals which we want to achieve, and if we do better than FC thats just a bonus.

10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?

Id predict us to finish 5th, despite the media not surprisingly putting us lower down, presuming without many signings we can't do as well as last year. I think for me getting to either old trafford or wembley would be a dream, it will be very tough though.

NameExcellent, we overachieved in only our 3rd season in Super League.
2 - Who are the key players for you?
Dobson, Newton, Galea.
3 - Young star to watch?
Scott Taylor
4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?
David Mills
5 - What's the general opinion of Justin Morgan?
Superb Coach. Argubly the best in the league.
6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?
Castleford away and Murrayfield Magic (because i'm going for the first time)
7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?
Ryan Bailey - Flat track bully
8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?
The players who we've brought in are young and can develop, but we still need a prop. When/If Clinton arrives I'll be content with the 2010 squad.
9 - How much are you enjoying your superiority over Hull FC and can it continue?
I'm not sure about superiority, we did well over the last two seasons but the teams will be much closer this season.
10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?
7th. We will be tough to beat, but when it comes to the crunch I think we are lacking something.

1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?
Very well, amazing considering how long we've been in the league.

2 - Who are the key players for you?
Michael Dobson, Clint Newton, Jake Webster

3 - Young star to watch?
Josh Hodgson

4 - Player you would most like to get rid of?
David Mills

5 - What's the general opinion of Justin Morgan?
Pure quality. Superb young coach, who can only get better.

6 - Which game are you most looking forward to this year?
Leeds Home or Away

7 - Who is your most hated opposition player and why?
Sam Tomkins, because he's very average yet the media think he was crafted by God

8 - Have you been happy with your transfer activity for 2010?
With the imminent addition of Clinton yes. Think the average age of the squad being lower is fantastic

9 - How much are you enjoying your superiority over Hull FC and can it continue?
I think it's fantastic athough not really bothered what they do. And yes it can continue

10 - Season prediction? eg where will you finish and how do you think you will perform?
Think we can replicate last year personally, 4th-5th, think we've been treat harsh in the media just because we haven't needed to sign Matt Orfords or Craig Fitzgibons

1 - How did you rate your side's 2009 performance?

Ok, we clearly over-acheived because we ain't that good. As someone in this weeks HDM pointed out, we got lucky because EVERY side we played was plagued by injuries.

1) Excellent, it followed the chairmans comments of season upon season improvement since our promotion to Super League.

2) Key players are like last season Dobson and Cooke, who instigate the attacks and Newton, our stand out forward.

3)Liam Watts / Scott Taylor....twp potentially very good youngsters to follow in the footsteps of Welham.

4) Mills.

5)Justin Morgan, a superb coach and tactician and the key man ( outside of boardroom level) to have enabled our rapid rise through Rugby League.

6) Always look forward to the next game. Super league so close this season.

7) Don't "hate" any opposition players but its always nice to see the smug and arrogant like Yeaman get crunched. icon_biggrin.gif

icon_cool.gif Supporters always look to big name signings but invariably the top teams have a settled squad and do not have the need to make numerous additions or additions to their squad.

9) Always nice to be top dogs in Hull and whilst it never gets boring Rovers aim must be to continue to battle it out with the top teams in Super League.

10) A season upon season improvement, which means another top four finish and success in the Challenge cup or the play offs.
