| Nope...
As we've seen with Wakey nothing will probably come from this. There will probably be some agreement on payments and that will be that.
We can wait a further 12 months.

| We've been building towards Super League 2012. I wouldn't want an early entry.

| Would completely mess up our preperations, and when we'd inevitably finish last would give an opportunity for our many detractors to sling mud at us.
Thanks but no thanks. Better for super league to have a bye round than mess us up just to fill in for Crusaders.

Would agree totally with that! Our budgeting and planning (sponsors / contracts etc) are based on Championship 2011. Interesting point, have SL fixtures (bar MM) been released yet?

We can wait till 2012 to do that Although I suspect you'll have a hard from opposing fans for most of next season in the championship

Little Pepe went to nursery school one day wearing his Widnes hat. His teacher asked him why he was a Widnes fan. He said, “Because my parents are.” His teacher said, “That’s not good. What would you do if your parents were drug dealers and hookers?” He replied, “Well then I would be a Warrington fan.”

| I’m happy for the club to wait until 2012. I think it would be better all round.
I have a bit of sympathy for the Wrexham Crusaders here. They have a better stadium and better crowds than CC had, and they really do seem to be taking to the game there. I work on the Wirral and there are a lot of Welsh lads there and a few actually now go to watch RL in Wrexham, whereas they didn’t watch it at all before. They took 800 fans away to their play-off game as well, which is very encouraging and shows what a good idea it is to expand closer to the heartland areas.
The stone dragging them down seems to be from their previous guise as the Celtic Crusaders. It’s the RFL’s mess this. They rushed this club through, with little thought as to whether they were actually equipped to cope with Super League and put trust in a man who had a previous record of simply dumping rugby clubs.
What a shame that the promising Wrexham Crusaders are saddled with the mess created by the RFL and Samuel. Hopefully it will get sorted for them.

I have fond memories of being pilloried and called all the names under the sun for sharing that opinion back in 2008. Though I take no pleasure in saying 'I told you so'.

| If Crusaders go bump I'd suggest that no team drops out of SL at the end of next season....

| I think Crusaders are in trouble regardless of this pension issue. Given where Wrexham FC are in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't appear the Wrexham owner is in a position to fund the club with his own money. 5 out of Crusaders 8 home games they got less than 3,000. Crowds were as low as 1,122 in one game. I think its generally accepted that you have to be averaging 10,000 before you are in a position to be self funding and remain competitive. We ourselves were making £200,000-£300,000 losses per year in SL based on crowds between 6,500-7,000. Ideally for Crusaders, they would need at least another 3 of 4 years before you could say whether they are going to make it or not. Unfortunately for the Crusdaers, whilst they have such low crowds, who is going to fund them until the crowds MIGHT grow?
It appear the RFL have gave help to Quins and I don't think it would surprise anyone if they step in again to help the Crusaders.

I think the point is we were prepared for Super League had we got the franchise that year. Now we aren't because all our plans are geared towards a 2012 place.

Its too late on into a close season and we've pretty much as you say geared ourselves towards 2012 which is as far as I'm concerned the earliest anyone will be promoted to super league. Being chucked in now would ruin our preperations.

I said the same things myself at the time, but so many people on the VT thought that they knew better. If you go and look back at the posts at that time I said that the Celtic Crusaders were clearly not ready for Super League and would be a disaster which would set back RL in Wales for a long time, if not for good.
In my opinion Sky are behind this. I think they only agreed to pay for a league expansion to 14 clubs provided the Celtic Crusaders were included. I also think that they insist that every penny in TV money goes to SL clubs only, in order to strengthen that competition for their own purposes.
If the Crusaders go bust and fold, the RFL should stick Toulouse in and let us wait until 2012. It may well be what Sky demand anyway.

I've never really got the Sky argument personally.
I just can't imagine what benefits Sky would get from the introduction of a club from a South Wales backwater that had averaged maybe a 1,000 or so spectators at best in seasons prior to its elevation.
Smacks more like the work of the RFL to me.
