| Wow.. it's so nice to feel wanted..
I think the ball still remains firmly in our court and I was expecting a lot more posts concerning our current league position when I started the mammoth task of reading through all of this but it seems that there is a general acceptance that we have possibly sacrificed ourselves a bit here for a more widespread general good.
Overall I would say that 99% are backing us to replace 'someone' in 2012.

| It's no surprise surely? Despite my little sideswipes at how franchising affects what goes on on the pitch i wholeheartedly support the Vikings push for Super League. A decision for commonsense must be made early next year and that chioce must be Widnes. Clearly there isn't one other club ready to take the leap. What i am eagerly awaiting is the choice of which club to axe. I really cannot call this one - obviously it's between Salford, Wakey & Cas - unless the strong rumours of Harlequins demise comes to fruition.
It's gonna be a Super League droppety ding dong do in March 2011

I think a spell in this division for three years would be very ominous for those clubs. Imagine knowing you are about to be relegated for three years, minimum, with the thought that, waiting in the wings are a number of sides who will probably be given their chance before you do because you've had it and they haven't. We're used to it down here, there are plenty of fans from those clubs listed above who have been bragging and sitting in ivory towers for years who must know be hurtling towards earth faster than a yorkshire sky diver who can see his cousin on the ground.
Crusaders wont be safe, there are plenty of rumours about financial state and the early crowds being a mixture of curiosity and free tickets has given way to more basement crowds as of late. They're an outside bet, as I feel the RFL will make an example of one of the heartland lot who made promises they knew they wouldn't keep.

| It will be a totally different squad for Super League, O'connor will have his cheque book out and we wont standing still thats for sure. A sprinkle of Yoof and we'll be reet.
The ideal setup for Super league would be below, 2 super 10 divisions with a play off of 4 from each division. each league will also have 2 expanison style clubs. The 2 divisions would be split to form more local derby games which would bring in more money for each club. 18 league games with challenge cup and meaningful war of the roses game back on.
Super 10 League A
Widnes
Saints
Wigan
Leigh
Warrington
Catalans
Crusaders
Barrow
Salford
Oldham
Super 10 League B
Halifax
Leeds
Bradford
Cas
Wakefield
Hull
Hull KR
Toulouse
Quins
Huddersfield

What a load of rubbish. The cap in the Championship is £300,000 and in Superleague it is £1.65 million. Widnes attract higher crowds even when doing poorly in this crap league. It is about recruiting correctly, and most players only have 1 or 2 yr contracts.Look at leigh they where awful last year, but are much better this season.I look at only 5 or 6 players in this seasons squad who can make the step up, but i feel their is a few in the u18s and u16s will step up in the next 2 to 4 yrs.Where will 80% of the fax and barrow players be in 2 to 4yrs time?Rooney wont be good enough for Superleague. If we wanted to win the Grand Final in this league we would not have a youth set up like fax, barrow, fev or leigh. It about the bigger picture.

I feel bar Castleford who have been here before remained strong and have faith in a youth set up from bottom up (Wakey won academy championship last season by snapping up a lot of 19 / 20 yr olds so not looking too much into that!). Wakey struggle in SL so dropping out would be a huge issue, same for Reds though may have enough local sponsors available to be ok, whereas Wakeys may leave a sinking ship for other sides around them... Fev? (as you mention had their chance time for new in region?).
I think this would be a reason to drop them not keep them too btw! SL doesn't need clubs sucking the life out of it bu taking SKY money to pay of various debters have one good year then sell off assets to go again it needs teams ready to invest in the game future and present... step forward SO'C & Widnes Vikings RLFC!

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

What utter bollox Be good for Leigh (2015?) If someone like Wakey came down as Leigh would then be ahead as a set up as a former SL club and can only look good to the powers that be!
As I have said before I think if Widnes got the nod it would give a glimmer of hope to other heartland sides... 'look get yoursleves financially secure, nice new ground, good youth set up running well, keep it going on the pitch and you have a shot!'
If was Toulouse would just be a big heavy door slamming shut to us all!
