With the full support of the referee, instead of retreating 10 yards at the play the ball they only went back 5.
Thus stifling Hull's ability to make any sort of progress.
Can anyone recall the ref penalising offside at the play the ball throughout the whole of the match ?

Sadly as soon as we adopt that tactic the refs remember where they put their whistle!

it works both ways you know, fc players standing side by side at marker mainly in the first half, you didn't get pinged for that.

Also jamie shaul twice in the first half playing the ball facing the touchlines.

I noticed that with Shaul, thought we were lucky not to be penalised for it. As Jake says, it's our own fault for not realising he was letting the game flow & push the boundaries ourselves.

i got about 20 minutes in and said to my mate, there's loads of stuff gone on here that either last week, or next week would have been stone cold penalties in SL.

I've observed our ptb, defensive lines and slowing the play down when thinking about this previously and we are no different to any other team in SL.

Difference is we don't watch our own team and only focus on the opposition when it comes to infringements.

Cracks me up this conspiracy theory we get pinged more by the ref, not smart enough or are whiter than white.

I thought the same but it was only really the offsides that were completely uncontrolled. Didn't think there was too much in the ruck. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a referee's directive as it was on the beeb. Well done to wire for spotting it and taking advantage

Watch SOO and they get away with murder. high shots, niggling ruck, offsides... The Refs let more slide because it improves the spectacle. Common sense has to be applied. If it isn't directly affecting the play then there's no point blowing up. Id much rather see refs doing that than seeing 30+ penalties every game like some SL matches have become.
