TWO CHANGES TO HULL SQUAD FOR PERPIGNAN TRIP


Hull FC coach Peter Gentle has made two changes to his squad for Saturday’s clash with Catalan Dragons, with Tom Briscoe and Mark O’Meley set to miss out.

The Black and Whites will travel to Perpignan looking for their tenth win in their last eleven matches but they must do without England winger Briscoe who has not made the trip to Perpignan due to a rib injury.

Former Australia and New South Wales prop O’Meley has also been ruled out with a minor hamstring injury picked up in his side’s impressive 18-6 victory over defending champions Leeds Rhinos on Friday.

However, there is better news for forward Chris Green who is fit to play after receiving the all clear on a bicep injury, while winger Jason Crookes and centre Joe Arundel are drafted into Gentle’s 19-man squad for the game.

Catalans Dragons headcoach Laurent Frayssinous named his 19 man squad for saturday Super League clash against Hull FC at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium.

Hull FC will look extend their recent run to ten wins from 11 matches.

Brent Webb, Olivier Elima, Louis Anderson, Julian Bousquet and Jason Baitieri will miss the game.

If Whiting is 100% fit, I'd probably start with him instead of Pitts though.

Your bench looks ok to me Whiting needs to be on there with 4 forwards on the bench he would be cover for the backs too

Just can't see Galea being left out, even though he should be.

I do have a slight question mark over whether or not Gentle will do it, but I'm thinking positive.

To be fair, if there's even a slight doubt over Whiting then he should play, we're in a strong position in that sense.
I do have the fear that Pitts will play prop and Bowden will miss out.

That thought has occurred to me, too. Hope not, he's been so much better since moving to the back row.

Whiting should really miss this week, dont want to risk aggrevating his rib injury. This week off and the following free weekend should see him back to normal

Is he still suffering? If that's the case then that's exactly what we should do.

"As well as Joe, there's Josh Bowden, Liam Kent and Jamie Shaul who are all training really well.

"They are putting a lot of pressure on our 17 at the minute. I know if we pick up any more injuries or form warrants changes, then they are good to go."

Also, is the 19-man squad being printed places wrong? I only say because the pieces are saying about the absences of Briscoe and O'Meley with Crookes likely to play, but then the 19-man squad includes the former 2 and excludes the latter.

Thought it was strange yesterday when I read that Briscoe was to miss out, but his name was still listed.

Last week Ben looked like a rabbit stuck in headlights when he replaced Jay Pitts, then looked a lot better when he moved to the edges when Gaz Ellis went off, if the squad is healthy then it has to be the more versatile player on the bench for me. Of course gentle could move Westy to play the middle, who would be a coach? but as a fan its nice to have selection quandaries for a change.
