| Interesting
#London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith believes rugby union is "behind the times" and has urged them to adopt the report system of their rival code.
Unlike in rugby union, in rugby league a referee can put an incident 'on report' if he is not 100% certain of the gravity of an offence.

| Personally don't like it in our game and feel its a bit of a cop out for the officials, even if an incident isn't on report it could still be brought and the player could still get banned or fined

| Personally I would prefer a ref to make a decision. Basically, ironically, I prefer the Rugby Union method.
At the very least, I would prefer it if for the most serious of incidents the ref consulted with the video ref to make a decision there and then. Although, I do accept that is somewhat a difficult balancing act to maintain as I equally don't want the game to be stopped every 5 minutes for a video review.

If the referee isn't sure and there's no advice from the touchie how can you ask the ref to make a decision which if wrong can massively influencey a game. Only if we change the rules to allow immediate video reply of the incident in every game could that possibly change things.

| Hi there, been watching the threads for quite a while now and have decided to take the plunge and join in again
I've been watching the boys for many many years, since I was about 11 years old some 40 odd years ago (work it out) and have thought about this sin binning thing. Why if someone has committed an offence which is deemed bad enough to go on report doesn't the ref send him to the bin while the standby referee views the video evidence while he's off the pitch and if its found a case to answer he doesn't get back on the pitch? That way the clock isn't stopped while the game is in play and the team who has had the incident against them gets the benefit of the sending off. Simples
