| Just found out that Ian Thomas, the man who brought speedway to the Boulevard in the 70s has died....Sympathy to family and friends.

| Top bloke and one of the real characters in speedway. He'll be sadly missed by all who knew him. RIP

| Smashing bloke. he used to let me stand with the all riders in the pit area in front of the bar. I got the autographs of some of the greatest riders ever whilst
standing there. Ove Funding, Ivan Mauger, Barry Briggs and Ole Olson to name just a few.
I think he was also a member of the magic circle as well.
Sadly missed. RIP Ian

| Its sad we dont have speedway but you can get to the cracking little track in Shorpe in 30 minutes from the Humber Bridge. Its a shame they race on Friday nights.

| Ian Thomas was everything you could wish for in a professional sport franchise owner/manager.
He brought great riders to the Hull Vikings - Ivan Mauger, Reg Wilson, Jimmy Mc and Bobby Beaton, the Owen brothers, Josef Angermuller, the Moran Brothers and Dennis Sigalos from California - in a golden era for speedway at the Boulevard.
Thank you Ian for many wonderful memories and rest in peace.

Yeah, been there and it's a cracking little place. Not exactly palatial, but you are really close to the action !

Just reading those names makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! Great times and a great guy. Seem to remember him having one or two "stand ups" with other promoters - IIRC one time someone cut his pink tie off with a pair of scissors!!

| And I forgot to mention Tony Childs who was our first number 1 rider but who never mastered the art of sliding his bike and rode the track as if was threepenny bit shaped
