| We all as rugby league fans wonder how teams can afford to continually attract top paid players to their clubs without breaching salary cap rules.Whispers within the the game are that one way around salary cap breaches are to part pay players to offshore accounts (weve all probbably heard these before)but the same whsperers are now suggesting The RFL are already or are going to investigate these claims.Wonder if that is one of the reasons a certain overseas hooker from our club will not be taking a further 1 year option on his contract this year.

| Something must be going on somewhere as I doubt that a couple of SL clubs are genuinely playing within the cap rules. I think we've all heard the one about Steve Renouf's wife being paid £70k a year to clean the toilets at Wiggin.

But that was when there was no salary cap surely?

Maybe it was more tax advantageous.

| I'd prefer the ditching of the cap, I think it has made our stronger teams weaker but improved our lesser ones. Let clubs function like any other business; paying their employees what they believe they can afford.

Isn't that what everyone wanted? Isn't that what sets SL apart from sports such as football, the fact that the bottom placed team (Quins) can win away at the champions elect (Wigan)? The fact we have games where either team can geniunely win? ATEOTD getting rid of the cap would be benefical for our team but it wouldn't be benefical for SL or the entertainment of the sport.

When was the last time any of the lesser SL clubs won a trophy?
In Football Portsmouth won the F.A cup in 2009
The cap is a totally pointless if all clubs arent spending 1.6 million, right now less than half are

| The point of the cap is to protect clubs from doing a Leeds United. It was also to try and equalise out the talent, therefore making games more attractive as there would be fewer walk over victories.
The principle of the cap is right and fair. That being said, its time it was upped to about £2m per year.

| Hull's (successful!) business model wouldn't benefit from the abolition of the cap, IMO. Club's (and their owners eg Moran at Wire) more willing to run losses would be the big on-field beneficeries, while trying/failing to keep up would eat into Hull's modest profits.
RL isn't just another business. Firstly, people buy into it for reasons other than financial gain. And also, sports clubs [ineed[/i competition.

Would you expect Hull to spend £2m or close to it, if that was the cap?

Pompey may have won the FA Cup , but they were relegated and have massive debts.
Possibly, a salary cap would have avoided this.
