| What game do you all think was the best i personally belive that the Bradford v Leeds game was the best game but ours was the most passionate and its the only true Derby thought the Wigan v Saints was very overhyped.

Have to say I agree with them though. In the SL era, the Hull derby has involved teams finishing next to bottom in 2007 and 2008, and 12th out of 14 in 2009. Wigan v Saints for me has consistently served up higher quality games since SL began (even the one sided matches where some champagne rugby has been on offer). If you follow one of the Hull clubs the Hull derby is important, but let's face it, just over 10k yesterday in a typically tight and error strewn game is not the sort of thing that elevates FC vs Rovers over Wigan v Saints for the non-Hull RL public IMO.

| Think the hull derby has more intensinty if you could play like that in every game you would go a long way to beating the aussies at international level . our derby games are as good as the NRL but the intensity drops off in ordinary games

But it's not a derby Mrs B, it's just a big rivalry. I know it may seem a little pedantic but a derby it is not.

Fair enough. Wigan v Saints IMO is the biggest "local rivalry" game of all then IMO. Been some absolute cracking games over the last decade or so

| I said about this on another post yesterday, the only match that seemed 'important' to Eddie,Stevo and Phil was the Saints V Wigan non-derby.
They just don't grasp the feeling and emotion that the 'true derby' of Hull has on it's people.

| I actially thought the Rovers/Hull was the best game despite the result, for some reason Sky always seem to give the Wigan/Saints match prominance in their coverage?.

Because they've both been consistently in the top 6 in the SL era, have produced some absolutely classic, good quality games and tend to sell out? Just 3 reasons off the top of my head. 17,500 sellout at Knowsely Road yesterday, wasn't it? For many people outside the city, which if you hadn't noticed represents the majority of RL followers, the significance of Rovers v Hull has no impact on the top 4 and certainly doesn't trouble the top end of attendances (at CP anyway). It's a big deal in Hull and Hull only.

i agree that wigan and saints have produced some top games over the years, but no more than say, wigan v leeds, saints v warrington or saints v leeds, the better teams tend to produce better games but i dont consider the wigan/saints as good an occasion. ive expierienced a wigan saints game on a few occasions and the atmosphere and tension is nowhere near as intense as a city of hull derby, its unique in the game and there is nothing to compare it to, also wigan and saints play in the same colours which is odd for such deadly rivals

Id say that the state and capacity of craven park had something to do with the crowd just being over 10k if rovers had a bigger and better ground then the attendence would be alot higher, for me a derby is when it is two teams from the same city so ours is the only true derby, nobody calls man u v liverpool a derby so why call wigan v saints or leeds v bradford a derby.
And lets face it if wigan werent doing as well as they are then it probably wouldnt of been a sell at knowlsley road.
