Clearly last week scrum half/stand off pairing did not work, due to a lack of inventiveness in attack, and inability to lead the team around the field. It was tried last season with the obvious consequences.
Sean Long will not be able to play all the games this season due to injuries incurred. I think someone quoted that he has played on average 70% games for the last number of seasons.
There is one solution. If I recall, there was a player at Saints called Matty Smith who Saints sent out on loan for the season. He was Sean Long's understudy. I understand that Saints did not sign him back again, stating that they now had Kyle Eastmund. Matty has now gone to Widnes. Why don't we sign this player as Sean's understudy. The other bonus is that he can kick goals and is an excellent place kicker. Surely better than the situation we have at present.
