“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club." Adam Pearson, FC Website 23-09-2011: |
|
| noble did well while he was at wigan, the club was in a right mess when he joined and he got them to within 80 mins of the grand final this year. It was the wrong decision to get rid of him but they did and they have their reasons. There is no stand-out british coach to replace him so an aussie coach was the only option
I would always prefer hull to have a good british coach but I would sell my soul for an average aussie coach to replace agar.

I still think Noble deserved one more season at Wigan, they weren't that far away from making a final and just needed to sort their consistency out in the league (unexpectedly losing to Celtic being just one example this season)
I don't care what nationality our coach is as long as his win % is better than the 30 or so % the current one has!

I think Noble has done OK at Wigan but it annoyed me when he was given the credits for saving them from relegation when in fact we all know that they broke the salary cap to avoid relegation. Lenagan wants instant success so has gone to Australia where I think they are streets ahead of anybody in the UK. Maybe a good idea for both Hull Coaches to link up with NRL teams to get some valuable experience and the latest best practices since they are both relatively new and inexperienced.

| i think its a real shame that noble wasnt offered a new contract.and a sad reflection of our game in general.but its no surprise.clubs want trophys and anything less is deemed as failure.i really hope the brit coaches that are left in superleague can manage to keep in the game even if they get the bullet from there own clubs.i also think that clubs like hull and bradford should be applauded for standing by there coaches.when it wouldve been really easy to bring some second grade aussie over.we really do need to start promoting home grown coaches.and giving them a chance..its all for the good of the game.................

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

| i think its a sad reflection on our game when we cant produce top quality coaches who can play a exciting brand of rugby league.
i was more than happy with what our board did with agar, giving him a long apprenticeship and sending him over to australia to spend time with kearney.
but did we do enough for long enough, kearney himself is still under bellamy, and what can we do to get young british coaches up to speed.
what about getting the best 16 young coaches who've finished playing and sending them over to oz, one with each club, so they can spend a year there shadowing and taking some sessions and paying other top coaches (bennett, gould, johns, etc) to give them extra sessions away from the clubs where they can get together and discuss their findings.
were going into a international tornament with the worst backs we've assembled for some time, the sooner we sort our coaching out the better.

| I think it's a sad reflection of our game when the referee's performance and decision making is decided before the game is played. There's an agenda and they stick to it. While ever this is going on our sport will remain to the rest of the public the light entertainment it is.
RE Mr Cummings..people outside the sport are beginning to notice this.... how long will the Emperor still be wearing clothes?

| The two teams that finished bottom of the Super League had Aussie coaches. Barrow (top of championship) had English and Aussie coaches, whilst 2nd and 3rd places (Halifax and Sheffield) both have English coaches. It is the public's idiotic, sheepish beliefs that produces the dominance of Aussie coaches and unfortunately the public gets what the public wants. Despite us winning the Challenge cup, we sacked Kear, and we will not equal that feat for quite some time.

there was no coaches in the world who would have got celtic and salford out of the bottom 2.
what about agar, mcnamara and lowes? they've took sides to their worst finish in some time.

I posted on our board on this topic that it is my belief that we are too preoccupied with promoting ex players to coaching roles, why does it have to be someone who has played at the highest levels that needs to be the next coach of any club. IMO the way forward is to get a selection of people who fit the right mould for management of the team, not just the playing side but the man management side of the game, the financials, PR and media ect... that goes with being a top coach and train these people with the sole aim of becoming a top coach.
Place them alongside the best in the world, not sure how but maybe even get them looking across sports management (RU, football, US Sports etc) and bring them through. Then line them up for the right roles and bring them through. I believe football will go this way more as time goes on, look at Mourinho and Wenger even ferguson to some extent (although he was an ok player). Mourinho never played AFAIK but sat alongside the best and studied.
Mirror this with the Keanes and Brian Robsons of this world and the proof is there to be seen. Back to RL, do we really want a player (who 90% of aren't exactly brain surgeons) to be given the roles of a manager only to then wonder why with little no training in the people element fail.
